I thought his reported base salary increase was to $900k? Is a portion of his salary covered by IMG media fees and not reported here?

It's also interesting that the foundation is picking up substantially all of his salary increase over the life of the contract.
Well, I hope he gets the P5 win bonus this week!
Have to read the contract in detail, but I think everything listed there is for future years starting Dec 1 2017 and not retroactive.
Has anything been disclosed about raises for the rest of the coaching staff?
Clark kind of hinted in the press conference yesterday that he was working on the coaching staff raises.

That makes a lot more sense. Taking his pay to $985k equals a $380k raise. The university is picking up $200k and the foundation is paying $180k. That seems more reasonable.
Pretty good Deal, For Clark. And the BOT Approval is absolutely amazing. With the Support of the system, I applaude them. This shows major support. Thank You. A new Generation has begun.
Actually it shows they don't want people snooping up in their stuff.
For some reason I think it's hilarious that he would only get $50,000 for a National Championship

Surprised the bammers didn't make that a $50,000 fine.

The RSA perks are a huge benefit as well. As Fumbles pointed out, Coach Clark’s pension benefit will increase 130% if he stays for the next few years.
Did the contract have to say P5. 03-puke

I hope the assistants get raises too. Coach probably negotiated a deal for them already. They can wait until the end of the season to sign them to new deals. If we get a few more wins, the coaches could get more. There are a lot of positive things going on. This is a good deal.

That's for next year. Starting the year after, it'd be $450,000 ($100k for the playoff appearance, $100k for the championship game appearance, $150k for winning the championship game)

And this new contract would certainly be re-negotiated.

Are the RSA perks based on entire pay package or just the part paid from UAB funds? (UA only pays about $200,000 of Coach Saban's $7.5 million annual pay) Since RSA retirement benefits are based on level of pay (best 3 of last 5 years after ten years of service to be vested), such arrangements for coaches become very important later.

Right. He'd be guaranteed the $450k, but if he won a national championship he's also gonna get a fat raise one way or another the season after

Only the portion that is paid by UAB

There's no way Saban's full salary is TRS eligible. First, Saban would be docked 6% off the top. Then, the University would have to contribute an additional 12.24%, which at $7.5m would be almost a million dollars by itself. That's likely the entire reason that "talent fees" are used with coaches so often. David Bronner would probably have a stroke if they tried that
