Hopefully that helps them take the next step to being in the ncaa tourney consistently. The conference needs it.

The one thing about this conference is a lot of the coaches aren't going to be looking to go anywhere, like Sampson and Dunleavy. These programs probably won't reach any elite level, but they could be solid top 50-100 teams for the next 6 or 7 years.

Idk i could see them going somewhere if they get the opportunity. $$$$

Houston scares me, they shoot almost 40% from 3 as a team, and we have struggled to guard the 3 at times.

I’m surprised their guards handled Wichita. They are small and don’t handle the ball very well.

Wichita lives from long range and dies by it. They return home on their shield today. The Shamet kid looked like a reserve most of the game and it was not due to the Houston defense. Think WSU had about a dozen walking calls. Was a wierd one.
Seton Hall crowd all over the punk. Love it

I thought he meant Mack.
Sorry, Macura. But you're right that could apply to about half the people on the bench

True, but do you see any power conference teams wanting to hire Sampson. Maybe Dunleavy, bUT he's in his 60's, I'm just not sure how much jumping around he wants to do.

I think a cellar dweller make take a shot on him. You never know. People will forget about the IU scandal given enough time.
Texas Tech and Oklahoma lose

Or not
Personally, I'm disappointed that WSU can't win out against the teams they're supposed to. That means there really are no good wins in conference anymore.

If things keep up, and there's no true top of the conference other than us... I'm not seeing it if one still exists. Maybe if they rebound and win several in a row but I'm skeptical.

Agreed. "Wichita State" is still a "name" win at this point. As is "SMU" for the time being.

"Houston" and "Memphis" and "Temple" will also get you some points.

All you can do is win the games. "Wins" are obviously better than "Losses." At the end of the day, the best thing any team can do is win their Conference auto-bid and remove all doubt... Take the committee and their opinions out of the equation as much as possible. But beyond that, win as many as you can and avoid all the "WTF" losses possible and let the chips fall where they may.

If we look at it from a tournament resume perspective, the AAC is the strongest its been from top to bottom as a conference. All but one of our 12 remaining games are against teams in the Top 100. If you break it down into the tiers that the Selection Committee is using this year, we have four Tier 1 games, five Tier 2 games, and three Tier 3 games remaining. We have a great chance, and certainly the talent, to receive our highest seed since 2004, and possibly since 2002.

The great thing is that our only potential WTF loss would be at home to RPI 126 Tulsa. And even that would be nowhere close to losses in recent years to ECU and USF.

The American is a four bid league, with a couple more NIT teams. Overall is really close to the Big Ten and PAC-12 this season. If the Cats can get to 16-2 and beat Wichita State and Houston at least once they are going to win the league going away. That is going to good enough for at least a 4 seed. Difficult task as the rest of the schedule is all against decent to very good teams that will be giving the Bearcats their best shot.

Which is what we want heading into the tourney, as bad as 1st half of schedule sucked the way it was laid out, 2nd half is great.
