Has the MAC ever had 2 teams ranked in the top 10 in Men's Soccer this late in the season before. Both deserve high seedings in the National Tournament.
The ultimate goal in Men's Soccer is to get a top-8 seed in the tournament. That gets you home field advantage in the playoffs all the way up to the College Cup, which is at a neutral site.
#10 Akron is currently up 3-1at #8 Western Michigan in the second half. The weather looks particularly crappy. Game is on ESPN3.

Damn you and your bad weather wins! At least the soccer field didn't flood .
Keep developing great soccer talent guys. The U.S. National Team could sure use some more stars especially after not qualifying for the World Cup. Still so bummed out about that.

So, is that bad weather strength superior conditioning, more effective targets for a long ball game, or what?
If anything bad weather would benefit WMU's more direct play. The pitch seemed to be in decent condition, I don't think it was a major factor. At least it didn't slow down Akron's build up and passing play.

FWIW "bad weather wins" was probably also referring to Akron beating WMU in the delayed flood game earlier this football season.

Yep, I know nothing about soccer, not blaming the loss on the weather, just thought it was funny.

Carry on soccer peeps.

Can't believe they're unable to get enough talent to beat little countries like Costa Rica.

We have far fewer than the limit because we also have Hockey and Lacrosse, but we've made in. On the same side of the sheet as Akron.

Yeah, losing twice to them was one of the deciding factors in us getting knocked out. But then to have us fail to even qualify by losing to Trinidad and Tabago... 03-puke

But, bringing the MAC back into the conversation, Akron made a strong contribution to the US team by providing us with DeAndre Yedlin. Makes me very thankful that Akron has placed such a strong emphasis on their soccer program. Wish Ohio had a men’s soccer program.
WMU leads Albany 1 - 0 with the goal scored at the 38:23 mark.

Go Broncos!!
Up now 2 - 0 at the 68:36 mark

Game is on ESPN3
Both MAC teams advance!

Akron beats Seattle 3-0 and WMU wins 2-0 over Albany
Broncos get MSU next in E Lansing. Lost to them 1 - 0 earlier this season, when they injured our goalie.

Revenge tour up next.

Congrats to the Zips and Broncos. And Broncos fans, thanks again for Ed Pinkham. He essentially won us a few games and none bigger than beating BYU on the road.

You had to go there..
Akron wins 3-2 in OT over Wisconsin to advance to the quarterfinals, where they will play the winner of today's Louisville vs Colgate match. Sadly, WMU fell to MSU 2-1. Great season for the Broncos, it has been a long time, if it has ever been done before, since the MAC has had two teams in the final 16.
