This is it, officially the beginning week of the 2017/8 men's college basketball season.

Usually we have the honor to start the men's college season as the first D-I team to play with our annual education day game which starts very early.

If we have EMU MBB fans on the West Coast, they need need to set their alarm clocks. 03-banghead

So we'll be first to get a D-I win and the rest of D-I has to chase us. 03-lmfao
In exhibition game, CMU is *trailing* Northwood 39-38 at halftime.

Detroit Mercy lost to Wayne State in their exhibition. Second year in a row.

whoa. good for Wayne State. i'm sure they were hyped for that game.
ahh! just realized the game is 10:30. i was thinking noon. Steve, thanks for the heads up. this will require an alarm clock for sure.

it's weak competition, but there's still a lot to learn. who will play in the middle when thompson is out? who feels comfortable shooting threes? what is our point guard rotation? what is Jackson's style running the point? are there any new wrinkles in the offense? how is KPJ holding up as the in-game announcer?
O/T but here is the Detroit News on WMU. Assume CMU and EMU will be next up...

Interesting if you read between the lines. Even Murphy is being critical of last year's guards.
I really hope Thompson takes all that info that scouts gave him seriously. It sounds like he did, considering all the muscle he gained, but I'll reserve judgment on his in-game attitude until we see it. If he cools it with the technicals and the "frustration fouls", he should have a monster year.

Also very excited to see how Paul Jackson looks, and if our offense improves with a playmaking guard at the helm.

I REALLY like that article. I don't even want to add my comments to it, because I don't want to detract from the article.

The article says it all. Everything you wanted to know but were afraid to ask. Lol.
Wouldn't have minded more info about the freshmen, but I'll take what I can get. Pretty evident that it'll be the "Thompson Show", with supporting roles from Minnie, Jackson, and Bond. We'll see who else steps up.

Thanks for sharing!!! I am excited to see these athletes in action and whether or not Murphy can get them to play as a team. It's interesting that both freshman guards Ellison and McaDoo are being counted on as well. We need their outside shooting....

From the article....."This player will surprise everyone with a big season: Point guard Paul Jackson, another transfer, who will give the Eagles a true point guard who can set up Thompson, Minnie, Bond and freshmen guard Malik Ellison and Kevin McAdoo (West Bloomfield)"

Lot of experience for a MAC team starting at 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 all have significant D-I experience.

As I have said before the front court of JT4, Minnie and Bond are three really good athletes. Very experienced and very talented.

I'll predict a nice run in Cleveland. I would not laugh at anyone predicting a MAC title for us. If so, JT4 will be the POY and lead us to the promised land.

Big game against Oakland!!
Once again Murphy is mentioning that P.J. (Paul Jackson) is a pass force PG. We NEED that.

BTW, Steiner and Murphy talking: 4,100 kids Friday morning.

91% of our MBB players have graduated over the past 6 years. #1 in the MAC.
I've all this many times before. I hear no real change just the same old same old.

I think we need to wait and see on that. So many new players, new coaches, the departure of guys that were more focused on their personal performance rather than the team....

We really don't know what we'll see until we see it.

Some times the 'same old is the same old' (Cleveland Browns).

Some times it's not (Houston Astros - who did a 'worst to first' in a few years).

As they say, that is why we play the game(s).

That's a big credit to Rob Murphy!!!!
Thank goodness basketball starts tomorrow. We all need something else to talk about last night.
