So, 21k is when we get our first article taking a swipe at attendance.

Yep. Just ridiculous.
Didn't seem inflated to me. If they bought the other week's numbers, this lined up with them with the eye test.

After halftime, numbers thinned...but it was a total blowout.

Yes, it seemed like a shot but it was a legitimate point. This was a big game on a near perfect November day, with no conflicts with the other two schools. I would have expected upper 20K easily.

Goodman is not anti-UAB. I saw him at Iron City last Saturday decked out in Blazer gear and cheering hard for UAB. Hr was tailgating before the game today. He is not an enemy, just bringing up a very real concern.

I don't disagree with him that we should have had more people there. I just don't agree that the attendance number was artificially inflated.

Agree. That number seems about right or a little low. Solid crowd for a bad opponent. Everyone there seemed excited to be there. We’re building a strong core fan base.
Would have been 6 thousand in years past.
25000 would have been a better crowd.
Not sure why the 3 or 4 thousand didn't come to this game that attended the last few games.
We still have the largest crowd for CUSA for the weekend.
Sick of fighting his own university system's board of trustees, Brown left UAB after the 2006 season.

I do not think that means what he thinks it means.

Well, Auburn was still playing when we started.

Still, the writer had a point, Birmingham can do better. But I prefer to not let that get under my skin today. Today was a great day! We're going bowling!
We've always had weaker attendance in November, even in our better seasons.

In 2014 we were 5-4 coming into the La Tech game on Nov. 8 and attendance was 9,457. Attendance for the win vs USM that made us bowl eligible was 17,103. Today was probably one of our better attended November games. Not sure what to do about it other than continue to win.

We played our last game in Hattiesburg in 2014.I was there.

Exactly. If the other weeks numbers were accurate, so was this one.
I thought Ingram was fudging our numbers? So I assume it looked like there were 32k there
A misquote? Coach said, "(I feel like) we're just scratching the surface", not "We're just scratching the surface."

Wow! Seven touchdowns scored by UAB in the first 24 minutes of the game against Rice. That has to be some kind of record in the record books.
I love Clark's vision.
His quote is referring to what we can accomplish as a program. Not the scoring production of the Rice game.
Oh and yea the point the writer had that Birmingham can do better is correct but he was off base insinuating that the attendance was inflated. Hard to tell sitting up there and not being able to look back at the same side you are sitting on. Especially in the box.

Stop giving the enemy talking points!

Goodman is on our side, but he gets off base sometimes. If we keep having success and keep being mentioned on a national level more fans will come. Locking up Clark to an extension also shows the average fan we're serious about maintaining this momentum.

Or assuming that there is no enemy.

I could see little difference on our side, maybe slightly less, but Rice brought no one where MTSU had a band and a disappointing but real number of fans. Every Rice fan who did show either gave birth to or had sex with a Rice player.

Rice is an actual elite institution: what those preening posers from Duke pretend to be, they are. That means they have a relatively tiny alumni base. They're never going to fill their own stands, let alone ours.

We're going against a societal wave here: attendance is dropping across the board for the NFL and for college, and it has nothing to do with "kneeling" and everything to do with blocking out four-plus hours in a life paced many times as fast as even 10 years ago. That we are increasing our attendance at all is a very real accomplishment.
