Memphis is in it
Notre Dame in at #3. with 3 wins vs top 25 teams in the CFP ratings. and 2 teams left vs top 25
Clemson in at #4. 2 wins vs top 25 teams in CFP ratings. Only 1 scheduled game before the ACC CG left vs top 25.
Oklahoma at #5. 1 win vs top 25 team. Got 2 top 25 teams left before B12 CG.
Ohio St at #6. 1 win vs top 25 team. Got 1 top 25 team left before B10 CG

Wisconsin and Miami at #9 and 10 despite being undefeated(6 teams ahead of them).

yeah- you are right....

cold splash of water for non AAC fans. UCF only down 3/4 from their poll numbers. Memphis only down 1/2 from their poll numbers...
Clemson was the surprise to me.
I am loving the top 4. Everyone on the outside will need help at this point. If Georgia loses to Bama in the SECCG, or vice versa..... I don't think either drops below 4. Having Big 12, PAC 12, and the B1G all miss out on the playoffs will be priceless LOL.
Ho hum. The exact same 25 teams in the AP poll are also in the CFP Top 25. All of them. The order is a little different, but by and large this could look pretty much like any individual AP voter's ballot.

Other than the "drama" of the big reveal, why do we need a committee?
Seems like reasonably good news for the Big 12. 4 teams in the top 15 with 3 more matchups between the 4 left plus the CCG. Biggest hurdle is having a team 12-1. Unlikely anyone navigates it through undefeated. Plus if it is ISU they’d have 2 losses anyway.

They put UGA and Bama at the top expressly because one will drop out of the top 4 after the SEC CCG. The are functionally saying that the contest in ATL is a semifinal of the CFP.

What if it's a 1 point game like Ohio st Penn st?

Not to me, I've tried to explain to folks around here that the CFP thinks very highly of Clemson, thanks to their success in the playoffs the last couple of years.

If Clemson wins out, they will be in the playoffs, no matter what. Count on it. 07-coffee3
My prediction of final four in order:

Alabama
Notre Dame
Miami
Ohio State

IMO, it won't matter. The SEC CCG serves as an elimination game that minimizes the possibility of another regional CFP Championship.

Not a close evenly matched one.

There is no way Miami hangs around IMO. Especially since the U and ND play on NOV 11th
Given that the top 13 teams have one loss or fewer, it's likely but not certain that there will be at least 4 teams with one loss or fewer at the end. So, as in the first three CFP seasons, a second loss probably puts a team out of the running.
what would be so funny would be if Notre Dame, Clemson, and Oklahoma all win out from here. Ohio St would be in deep trouble I think. Especially if Wisconsin loses a game before the CCG.

I do not think there is any chance that will happen. NO way will three conference champs be left out and two from one conference get in. Alabama has not beaten a team currently ranked in the top 25..

You need them to create the reasoning that the final 4 are selected. That's all you need them for. So they start with the AP Top 25 and will begin to offer more explanations for placement as games play out and in the end they will justify the 4 that will make the most ad revenue for the networks. It's what committees of prominent people do. What's that old addage, "When they assemble a distinguished group of personalities who are considered above reproach it is because that is what is needed when somebody is going to screwed over but good, but it has to be believable."

I do not think there is any chance that will happen. NO way will three conference champs be left out and two from one conference get in. Besides the SEC is not very good. Alabama has not beaten a team currently ranked in the top 25.....weak schedule.

If OU loses again the Big 12 is out. If Washington loses again the PAC is out. If Clemson loses again and N.D. wins out the ACC is out, but Notre Dame is in, unless Georgia is up for their slot with a close loss to Alabama in the CCG.

The Big 10 is just as likely to get two in as the SEC.

But I wouldn't knock Alabama's schedule too much. When the season is over they will likely hold wins over 5 ranked opponents. Remember F.S.U. was ranked when Alabama beat them and they might still have been ranked if Alabama hand taken out their starting QB for the season.
