We are probably better off playing this game on the road. Entering the game tonight, in our games at home:

Toledo penalties/yds 37/359yds Opponents 21/223
On the road 36/307yds Opponents 22/193

4 games on the road and 4 games at home. As in prior years, we get penalized less on the road than at home. This is somewhat misleading because we picked up 14 penalties for 110 yards on the road against Nevada. It is closer this year than in the prior couple years. I still think it is amazing we get hit with 11 penalties for 104 yards against Akron - and they had 0 for 0 yards.

Anyway you look at it - way too many penalties. The only home game where the opponent had more yards in penalties than us was against Elon. We only had 2 for 20 yards and they had 5 for 40 yards. Imagine that, we had the cleanest game in the home opener with only 2 penalties. If you look at MAC games at home Toledo 20/189 Opponents 7/86. On the road - Toledo 12/120 Opponents 5/43. At least on the road, we get fewer calls against us even if it is more than the home team gets - which is somewhat expected. We never get that advantage.

Even against Miami, in Miami - it was respectfully about the same Toledo 10/77 Miami 8/75.

MAC officials certainly have seemed to be after Toledo for quite some time. I don't think it is my imagination, but I see a lot of penalties by our opponents at home that do not get called. especially holding and unsportsmanlike after a play.

let's hope this game is called fairly.
I hope the bad reffing trend continues for Toledo. Fairness is overrated.
