Iowa State got a commitment from another guard. Now it appears that they have no more scholarships to offer...04-cheers
C'mon Tubby...CLOSE IT!!!
Good news. Let’s hope it is shortly followed by great news. 04-cheers
Here's the backstory on Ayo Dosunmo and the player who committed yesterday to Iowa State, Talen Horton-Tucker, for anyone interested.

Ayo is the top recruit in the state of Illinois, and was the kid Tubby and Joe rushed in to Chicago for a home visit - Joe wore the t-shirt that the anti-Tubby guys had a hissy fit about. And then Ayo announced his top schools and Memphis wasn't on the list. Ayo was always an Illinois hard lean, and committed on 10-19.

Ayo doesn't like Talen Horton-Tucker, who some rankings have as the 2nd best recruit in Illinois. Apparently Horton-Tucker was about to commit to Illinois, and Ayo told Illinois that if they took Horton-Tucker, then he, Ayo, would de-commit from Illinois.

So Brad Underwood has to tell Horton-Tucker that they were pulling the offer, and Horton-Tucker commits to Iowa State yesterday. Iowa State now has 3 of the top players in Illinois committed, so Steve Prohm putting in the work.

So, kind of ironic that the guy we missed on, Ayo, might help us close on Tyler by forcing Horton-Tucker to Iowa State, who is, for now at least, out of scholarships.
I’m expecting Harris to commit to the Tigers any day now. Mom/dad and coach want him to stay home and play for Tubby.
Dominos
I do not understand the reason(s) for Harris' delay. Perhaps he wants to make a big splash during the early signing period and bask in the accolades of appreciative home town fans? Perhaps he is pondering his other options?

FWIW (not much since Iowa St is still listed), 24/7 Crystal Ball (link) shows 79% Memphis, 14% Iowa St, and 7% Colorado St.
If they don't have any scholarships left then it looks like he's ours, which is great. NOW if he waits much longer you have to wonder why . . .

Sounds more like "trickle down" recruiting but I'll take it --- if it happens.
They could still make a scholarship available.
My guess is he is waiting to see how this years team looks...if promising, he's in.....if bad, he'll probably bolt.

We will be likely be bad compared to results of the last 15 seasons. The question is how bad and Tyler's definition of bad.

No one knows if the season is going to be bad prior to playing the season. The prudent thing to do is to wait for the games to be played. What we do know is we are deeper in every position and most likely better in every position except for PF. It’s possible we can equal D. Lawson’s production by way of committee. But I feel confident in saying Jeremiah Martin as a junior is better than Jeremiah Martin as a sophomore. Kareem Brewton is way better offensively than Markel, plus with Jamal Johnson and David Nickleberry (who can play some at point and at the 3) is way better than last year. It appears Davenport will be very valuable also. All I’m saying is lets play the games before we proclaim the team will be bad.

Sad day when our recruiting hinges on a lessor schools scholarship availability.

We continue the freefall pastner started.
You are basically saying the starting 5 this year is better than the starting 5 last year? No. This is not true. I don't even see how you can argue that. Unless I read between the lines incorrectly.

This year's team should absolutely be better than last year's team. Deeper, by far, bigger, by far, with more players who can do more things. Time will tell as the season begins and plays out, no question. D. Lawson put up big numbers but I would wager that those numbers will be spread out over the entire team as opposed to one guy.

Can't believe it took you that long to come up with that...
Yes. I am saying that the starting five is better than last year. Every position is better except PF. Mike Parks and Victor Enoh is better at center than J. Rivers (playing way out of position) and a hurt Chad R. Jeremiah Martin is better as a junior than he was as a sophomore plus we have several backups at point where we had zero last year. Kareem Brewton and Jamal Johnson are hands down better than Markel Crawford and the zero production at 2 guard off the bench. Crawford was absolutely non existent for the last 10 games.
Obviously this is my opinion, if I’m wrong I’ll admit it, which is more than I can say for about 5 to 7 here.
