First time in a while our payday game isn't in driving distance from the College. Kinda neat to be playing an academic powerhouse, and I guess it's nice for the Bay Area alums.
2 facts.

Mitchell and Evans are seniors.

So is Nick Muse and Will Kiely! 04-cheers
This is a great event for Tribe Football.

I'm sure this game came about thanks to Samantha Huge, who has, as many on our boards are aware,
strong ties to Stanford. It also appears to me that President Reveley is part of this too.....2020 is the final; year of our billion dollar fund-raising effort and I'm equally certain the game and events preceding the game that week will involve a major West Coast William & Mary event or events as part of the Bold effort.

It also reminds me of the late, great John Randolph's effort to schedule a similar game in 1993 as part of the 300th anniversary of W&M and football's 100th year. John couldn't get the schedules worked out, so it didn't happen...but it is wonderful to see it happen with today's announcement.
Quote:"The match-up will be the first football game that William & Mary has played in California, and the farthest west the team has traveled since playing at the University of Oklahoma in 1951."

Pssst ... California is farther west than Oklahoma.

(Sorry, sometimes the geek in me is just irrepressible).
The first step into the formation of the Magnolia League!
This is awesome. As much as I'll hate not being able to go to our FBS game that year (probably) this is fantastic for our national profile.
This is great! I was getting tired of playing old ACC opponents every year. I hope JL stays on and coach this game for us.
We should resurrect this conversation. One of my favorites. Perfectly good idea that nobody would ever be able to pull off. We can dream

Weak geek! We have played twice in Japan! Or is that East?

I was on that trip in January 1993. I can attest we flew west. Way, way west. So far west it was the Far East!
Maybe we could use this trip as an incentive for recruits? A Cali trip around school starting is nice.
Are we going to charter a plane? How many travel for a road game like this?
Interesting piece of trivia-

If this game was played in 1970 (50 years before 2020), the game would have been between the Stanford Indians and the William and Mary Indians.
I read that the Tribe are guaranteed $625,000
Stanford still has way more Indians than we do.
I'm fairly certain this will be our first game against a school from the Pac-12. Can anyone confirm?

We should charter one of the Patriots two Boeing 767s with all first class seats they just bought a few months back.
Stanford currently trailing 1-6 Oregon State late in 2nd quarter. Clearly they are looking ahead to us and looking past OSU.
