Last year the AAC lost 5 coaches at season's end for a variety of reasons. ( Temple, Cincinnati, UH, UConn, USF)

The year prior we had 4 new head coaches ( UCF, Memphis, Tulane and ECU)

At this point of the season just past the halfway mark, how many changes do u anticipate at season's end for next season?

You would like to think we would get a break with 75% of the conferences coaches turning over in 2 years.

I would like to say the over/under is going to be 3 changes.
I imagine Norvell will be mentioned for many P-5 jobs. The speculation mill is already grinding.

The SEC alone could have 5 or 6 openings. That probably is not good for the AAC.
My Guess:

Frost leaves.
Norvell leaves.

Morris may leave.

Niumatalolo returns.
Strong returns.
Fritz returns.
Montgomery returns.
Fickell returns.
Edsall returns.

Applewhite returns (to the displeasure of certain Houston fans).
Collins returns (to the displeasure of Temple fans).
Mo returns (to the displeasure of ECU fans).
I think
Frost
Norvell
Strong
All leave
I dare any AAC program that loses their coach this offseason to try and come get Applewhite.

Isn’t his buyout really high for another Texas team? That leaves us out.

Strong after 1 year?

Where the hell is Strong going?
I think the stench of Texas is too strong for Charlie Strong to get a bigger job after winning with another coaches players.

I agree there will be interest in Norvell and Frost.

I think Morris is gone if SMU goes to a bowl.

Agree.

However, Niumatalolo would be perfect at Oregon State. With that, I doubt it would happen.
USF fans are mentally preparing for Strong to leave but he clearly hasn't proven anything.

I think it would be short sighted for a big school to hire him after this season. He reminds me of Ron Zook. Has good access to recruiting in the state of Florida and then just hopes to out-talent his competition on game day.

At USF I think we can live with that but at the next level that rarely works. Even after winning Championships, the fans grew tired of Phillip Fulmer and Mack Brown underwhelming them on game day. Les Miles too. Not saying Strong is in the same category but similar coaching concept.

Why is that?
More to the point, if he wasn't going to BYU or Cal, why anywhere but Navy?

Yeah. I don't see him leaving. I think coaching at the Naval Academy is a special thing, really any of the service academies. With the discipline these young men have ingrained in them, I would think they are fun to coach.

Oregon State is about as poisonous as Tulane. You have more resources, but you're in a spot where you're the 10th-11th strongest program in your conference. It's easy to get fired from there.

Notice I said I doubted it would happen. However, Programs like Oregon State need to be different to consistently compete, and the Option does that. Furthermore, Coach has western roots, and he would be able to recruit a significant amount of strong Poly kids to OSU.

To your point about Cal, and BYU, I have. I idea why he said "no." But a "no" one year does not mean a nobevery hear. I think we all can relate to that. I have said no to opportunities simply due to timing. I actually did it yesterday.

If I was OSU, I would at least make the call.

Well, he will leave eventually. Almost all of them do, and he is a young man (in coaching years that is).
Barring Moos giving Riley, one more year, Frost will be the HC at Nebraska next year.

Norvell? He doesn't need to rush anything. Would need to be the right fit.
Going to miss Frost. He reminds me of a young Gruden
