This computer poll was part of the BCS:

Mr. Stroud should find plenty of reading material since this poll ranks 701 programs.
Yeah - but UCF will fall to #3 once Winona State becomes connected to the larger group!

So...if UCF were playing Alabama next week, who would you bet on?
Wonder why UCF is rated so much higher than USF? The computer must really value that Memphis win

I'd go a step further and ask...

If UCF were playing ANYONE listed in the top 15 who would you bet on?

If one's answer is UCF.......

"A fool and his money are soon parted".....
I would take UCF over Miami.

And they would be competitive against most of those teams.
Id be curious how the other BCS computers would rank UCF and what the total BCS ranking would be for them

Like many of the ratings included in the Massey Composite, I believe this one takes into account only a few things: Who won, where was the game played, what was the score. As a result, Massey will always rank G5 teams higher than in the computer rankings that take into account to a greater or lesser degree who the opponents were and how strong their schedules were.

Using Sagarin as a benchmark, these are the current rankings of the top G5 teams:

Team........Sagarin.....ESPN FPI....Massey

UCF.............15............19..............10
USF.............31............41..............22
Boise...........44............48..............32
Fresno.........48............50..............38
Memphis......50............45..............26
Toledo.........51............51..............30

Sagarin ranks UCF just slightly ahead of Miami.

I would definitely bet on UCF over the number 10 team listed - Memphis. And I'm pretty confident I'd keep my money since that game already happened.
and that's why the old BCS computers aren't used any longer.....

That makes one. I'll take the other 13 and be pretty confident of going 13-0.

I would take a bet that you wouldn't go 13-0. Maybe not even close to it.
According to the ratings? Baylor is at 1.247 at number 220. Arkansas Tech, once connected would be at number 221 with 1.242. That is a .005 ratings difference. The Wonder Boys may have a chance to beat Baylor.
The lowest FBS school on the list is Georgia Southern at 255. Georgia Southern might get clobbered by the Wonder Boys.
Texas Southern is at 432 in the ratings. That is the lowest D1 school. The top D2 schools could beat the lower rung P5 schools. Kansas is way down there as well with Oregon State and BYU. You can through in UTEP, UMASS., coastal Carolina, UNLV, Idaho and Bowling Green could have a chance to lose to a D2 school.

That is how close D2 and some D3 are with FBS and FCS in football.

We would lose bad to Bama, UGA, Penn St, OSU and ND. But I think we would have a chance against the rest. I bet you haven't watched a single UCF game this year, and are just judging the name on the jersey. Not saying we would go undefeated against the rest, but we wouldn't go winless either.

Wisconsin's best win might be 38-13 over Maryland in Madison. UCF beat Maryland 38-10 in Maryland.

Computers aren't used any more not because of accuracy, it's because the fans and media want someone we can vent at when our team doesn't get ranked high enough in our minds, and you can't get any visceral release from yelling at a computer. 07-coffee3

No, Wisconsin's best win would be Northwestern, who beat Maryland pretty badly.

Not that NW is all that good, they aren't, but they are clearly better than Maryland.

Wisconsin only beat NW by 9, and they beat MD by 25 which is their biggest margin over a P5 opponent.

Granted NW is better than MD, which is why I wrote "might be" because it's debatable between those two games.

OK, so you are including MOV in 'best', which I don't think is valid. E.g., Georgia's best win is clearly over Notre Dame, even though it's also their closest win. "Best" should mean best team you beat.

And in Wisconsin's case, the best team they've beaten so far surely isn't Maryland, it's NW, who beat MD by 16 points.
