Penn State was incredible last night. The stadium was electric and they pounded the crap out of Michigan. It was a great sight to behold.
And UCF appreciated them doing it.
Bottom line is it's good for college football when a blue-blood like PSU is good. Would be good if Texas and Nebraska were good as well.
Penn St looked like a playoff team. First really good team Michigan has faced. Michigan looks like a 15-25 ranked young team. Which is about what I expected. I hoped the O line would gel early and Speight would progress. Neither happened . Florida and MSU are about the same . Horrible QB play three interceptions on three consecutive plays cost UM the State game. Wisconsin looks like the next best B1G team . Michigan or MSU will have to play over their head to beat UW, PSU or OSU from what I have seen.

Yeah, the only way UCF and USF are moving up the polls is by other teams losing to competition much more superior to your own.
Penn State OC Joe Moorhead is going to get very, very rich this offseason with a P5 job.
Can't believe the enthusiasm after the Paterno-Sandusky empire.

Its still the front door of the program.
Penn State is benefiting from playing Kent State next year. Kent has played a team that has either gone to the championship that year or is the defending champion four of the last six years. Watch out for Wisconsin next year or 2019 and Alabama again in 2020.

2017 Clemson
2016 Alabama
2014 Ohio State
2011 Alabama

You're not kidding. He is the guy that I wanted Syracuse to go after. He coached not to far from Syracuse at a FCS Fordham. He was amazing there. I wanted him over Dino Babers, because he is a native of Pittsburgh, and his home town is not too far from Syracuse. He was very interested in Syracuse too. Babers is a nice secondary choice but Moorhead, I believe would be at SU for the long haul. If Pittsburgh is smart they would go after him if things dont work out with their current coach.

Absolutely agree. I dont see Sparty beating OSU or PSU or Wisky.

Paterno and Sandusky have nothing to do with these players and thier program.

That would explain the change to the name and colors, and removal of the old banners, trophies and ring of honor.
Penn St shouldn't even have a team after what happened. How anyone can support the evil that was allowed to happen there is beyond me. Still amazed the Big 10 didn't live up to their "values" and kick them out. I have not watched and will never watch another Penn State game.
I'm torn about Penn State.

They were my favorite team as a kid. With that said, I don't like how the culture allowed those acts to happen.

I know that the players and fans are not at fault here, but I felt that hiring Franklin (after his own rape scandal at Vandy - which is not a dirty school) was rather tone deaf.

Here we go again ............ but I'll engage.

Penn State did, of course, remove the Paterno statue.

But, yeah, we have to change our name and colors too.

Sure, that makes sense.

My 2 cents. I'm not a Penn state fan or hater, but my take is that if they are already back to an elite level then the penalties given weren't near harsh enough. Especially since they took measures to reduce them after the fact.

Really goes to show, all that matters is winning.

I'm interested in how it plays out since his resume would make him perfect for the northeast, but there aren't a ton of elite programs around there to snag him. He coached at Akron and has the PSU experience so the Big Ten would be good, but other than that you're taking a gamble on him if you're a southern program bringing on a guy who's never been south of the Mason-Dixon line.
I wouldn't be surprised what happens after this season with the program. A lot of those assistants are going to be getting HC offers elsewhere, and there won't be the payroll to keep them on. Also wary since it's a seasoned team that will be much younger and different next year (and may receive some strong showings from others not caring much for how PSU beat them up this year). I wouldn't even rule out Franklin walking away for a pro job.

Next year will be a rebuild year. Those aren't fun in places where success is an entitlement to fans, students, alums, donors, and others. And at a place with some deep pockets of folks who felt the punishments to the team those years back shouldn't have phased them at all (because people should just naturally want to be at a school in the middle of hee-haw central). Franklin and his team had it rough coming in. And until Ohio State last year, especially AFTER Michigan...I felt like a countdown was on. Who knew what they had in them, but, really...you can't un-ring some bells.

Boston College would be a good fit.

But, literally a lightning bolt out of a clear blue sky, suddenly BC is an offensive juggernaut. Addazio likely hangs on to his job if BC can get to 6 wins (the path there: (1) beat Connecticut, then (2) win one among vs. Florida State and at Syracuse).
The showdown with Ohio State is awaiting. Michigan was showing vulnerabilities, particularly on offense, early-on this season. That said, PSU is well balanced, haven't blown a game yet, and certainly looks like the top team, currently, in the B10.

If Ohio State beats PSU, but manages not end up as B10 champion, but still makes the playoffs, even with another B10 in there, this will generate a lot of unhappy fans elsewhere. This does not need to happen two years in a row, hopefully. It looks political, even if convincing arguments are prevalent. OSU has people like Paul Feinbaum claiming they are the BIG's best. Perhaps he thinks Bama would find them easier to beat.

TCU or OU, Clemson, Washington, maybe Georgia, could be yelling foul. Somebody will. As to Note Dame, if they don't have another loss, they will land in the playoffs I expect. Names matter when in doubt.
