After 2 long years and many delays, bumps in the road, hard work, a few tears shed , and plenty of emotions, the dedication of the Diesel Memorial Project is scheduled. Here is my post on the NIU Alumni Association's facebook page:

The Diesel Memorial will be dedicated at 5 p.m. on Thurs. Oct. 26, 2017. At that time, this beautiful sculpture created to honor our former mascot, Diesel , will be presented as a gift to Northern Illinois University. We invite all NIU Alumni, fans, & friends to join us on the north end of the west grandstand of Huskie Stadium in the grassy area between the stadium and the Yordon Center for the dedication ceremony as the Diesel Memorial Project Board of Directors and artist, Renee Bemis, unveil this beautiful sculpture.

HuskieBob has posted the most recent picture on our GoFundMe page if you'd like to see it. Click on "latest update". Finishing touches being made before the sculpture is installed next week.

Thanks HFA,

Although I cannot make the dedication, I look forward to visiting campus and seeing the sculpture at my earliest opportunity.

Based on how amazing it already looks just seeing pics, I have no doubt you will be proud to have been a part of it.
Great job. Looking forward to the dedication.
Way to never give up.
Good job to everyone involved.
It would be great if someone can record it and put it on YouTube for those who can't make it to the game.

Yes it sure would. Great idea Dog Fan. Now to find a person to do that...
Just saw this advertised in local paper. The pregame activities will be in chessick center so hoping for a great turnout.

Hope the link works, talking about tailgating being inside, just noticed the cheerleaders and band are supposed to arrive at 5 pm. I hope they aren't going to start playing right when the dedication ceremony is starting nearby.

I could not get there in time!

Dumb game times.

The band should be part of the celebration!
Mention of unveiling the statue at the very end of the show before the game on CBSSN.
Didn’t think we had a prayer halfway through the 4th, but then Diesel, sitting up there in doggie heaven gave us the victory.

Reading that blurb from athletics (thanks for the link 007) I noticed an omission - not a mention from them about the Diesel Memorial Dedication at 5 pm. :-(

I'm sorry you could not make it, chihuckie. It was nice. If you have not seen the sculpture I know you will be blown away. It is AMAZING!!!
Congrats to those that followed through on this project! Go Huskies!!!

I'm sure more media will come about it - at least I hope so. Lots of stuff on facebook. If you are on there look for Diesel H - a video is on his facebook page of the entire ceremony.

So right away it was a big hit. Lots of people taking pix - posing with Diesel after the ceremony & after the game. He's in a great location too. Renee Bemis hit it out of the park - I'm not kidding. The expressive ears, his face - AMAZING job.
