The season starts in a little over 3 weeks. With the Men’s media event scheduled for Wednesday I wonder if we will learn anything about TV or streaming coverage of conference games. Bracing myself for another underwhelming release. Hoping Bourne can once again negotiate something (likely) better like he did with FB.

Joey McLean will be accompanying Coach Rowe.

WBB will be Thursday.

Interesting all the CAA Men’s teams are including a key player, but the Women’s teams are not. Feels a bit odd.
Here's some motivation for Coach Rowe and the team...

Dukes picked to finish last in the CAA.

(not surprised considering we only return 2 guys with any playing time from last season...I think the Dukes have a chance to finish in the upper half of the conference though)
We lost a lot of close games last year, a couple of them in OT.
Around 11 games were decided by 6pts or less, 5 of them by 3pts or less.

I’m cautiously optimistic we could win 15-20 games this year. Would be disappointed if we don’t finish in top third of the CAA.
We are not just picked to finish last, but finish last by a WIDE margin. According to Josh Walfish's Twitter, we had 62 total points and Drexel (picked to finish 9th) had over 100. I understand we should be prepared for some growing pains this year, but I do not think we will an easy out at all this year (at least in conference play).
So it appears there is no actual physical media day but instead it will be done through social media by releasing pre-recorded videos. I can't decide if I think that is just a part of the age we're living in or if we're acting like a small time conference that wants to cut down on budgets.

I will be very disappointed if we don't win somewhere between 15 and 20 games. With a 10 team league the top third implies finishing between 3rd and 4th which is a pretty tall order with the number of new faces we have. I would be happy with the top half but would also say by the end of the year I would love to see us being a team nobody wants to play at tournament time.
Our graduate transfer has a knee problem that will restrict his minutes but I promise everyone that if he can somehow hobble through the season we are going to see some freaky dunks. If he gets the ball anywhere near the basket his first reaction is to always dunk and it is a show.

I'm not sure how much good it does. Now, with that being said, just like the FB TV deal, we should have our own media day, we don't need anyone to hold our hand.

From 2:00 to 3:45 today there is a media teleconference where each team's HC and one MBB player representative will make some comments and I assume take a few questions. This actually makes some sense to me from a cost-containment perspective and utilizing today's technologies. I mean, after all, Joey D has travel expenses to go up and practice with Hofstra's roller derby team. 03-thumbsup
I think the talent is there to be middle of pack team. I m thinking right around 500 overall and bit below 500 in caa.
I would be pleased if we finish .500 in conference play this season. I hope guys can heal up before conference play starts. I expect we will take our lumps in November and December but hopefully the news guys will adjust to the college game by league play.

While this is fun to watch, it doesn’t win ball games.

For me the standard is 22+ wins. Bourne indicated that winning 21 games is not good enough by firing Brady and hiring Rowe.
I can’t accept a crappy record for the second year in a row. We need wins and lots of them.
Hahahahaha, Hart you didn't accept a crappy record for ONE season!

Cut down on budget or avoid the embarrassment of very little press showing up? This is some bush league move.
I suspect it has something to do with NCAA regulations that count these days toward the athlete time limit. I think this is the first year of that & many top teams won't waste a student's day in order to attend.

Bingo. Several prominent ACC coaches have chosen to not show (and have their players not show) for its event for this exact reason. Supposedly, they are trying to get this goofy NCAA rule reversed for the future.
I thought Joey D liked spending time with the Dukes. Can't believe he let this happen.

I noticed the CAA MBB event yesterday passed by without a word about TV, CBS Digital streaming game of the week, etc. No surprise I guess.
Lady Dukes picked at the top of the CAA!
