Our vote in the AP poll came from Rick Wright of the Albuquerque Journal (Albuquerque, NM).

With this week's votes, this is the 5th consecutive season Marshall has received votes in the polls - even with the <whatever Herd fans eventually call the flaming collapse of 2016>, Marshall had 2016 week 1 votes coming off a 10 win 2015 season.

With these votes, we are now guaranteed to lose this week. Thanks, voters.
Lol at Fla State still getting votes with 3 losses.

Florida State has 1 vote in the AP poll, from Jonny Miller of WBZ NewsRadio 1030 of Boston, MA.
Hmm, sorry. Urzua can't even avoid throwing to average defenses much less good ones (no offense UAB).

This is a three pick game (minimum) with one being a pick six. Book it.
Not bad for a team picked to finish 5th or 6th in the East by these so called experts.

We've never played well in the 'boro. We have won against you guys in Huntington pretty handily, but have come up short both games down there in very close games. Something always goes terribly wrong, like 5 missed field goals last time, any one of which would have given us enough points to win all other things being the same.
Biggest concern is being @ MTSU, it's never went well there.
Points, not votes. 1 guy listed us at #23 and 1 at #25.

Still, it gets us on the list and maybe other voters will notice.

MTSU on the road is a monkey we need to get off our back. That field goal debacle a couple years back still makes me sick.
Where is Nick Smith now? I thought I heard him mentioned in the post game radio show on my way home from the Joan.
I don't expect us to play well at MT. They have our number their. Stockstill will prolly come back and throw for 400 yards. Our luck.

I don't expect him to play until after the bye week Nov. 4.

We will only score 10 points without him. That's your goal-to get to 11. If Brent does play we'll probably put up 30 to 35. I'm honestly not bull shitting when I say he's worth about 21 to 25 points over the other kid. But he's not playing, so you don't have to worry. If he were playing this week he would have suited up in Birmingham and gone through pre-game.
It would be very interesting to see what happens when Marshall's improved defense and FAU's suddenly potent running attack collide on Friday, 11/3.

Damn, that's setting the bar pretty high for our offense.

Well, we only scored 14 against Charlotte. And we missed 5 (F. I. V. E.) field goal attempts the last time we were there.

Having said that, our defense hasn't allowed a CUSA touchdown yet this season. I'll let you guys have all the field goals you want. I'll shed a tear if we give up 7.

I would take offense on UAB's behalf but his decision making...man. That 1st interception, at the goal line, I think he went back in time and mailed a postcard to our CB to let him know the pass was coming his way. The last, game-sealing one he threw into (at least) triple coverage. It's got to be frustrating because he has a good arm.

Well, you did play Charlotte and ODU's 17-year-old QB. I think Urzua will put a TD or two on the board against Marshall. And, yes, he will turn the ball over as well.

That's it. That's the issue for him. To put it in perspective, Urzua is throwing an interception once every 20 pass attempts. He's thrown 16 interceptions in just over 300 passes. In comparison, Brent has thrown just about 1,000 passes. He has 19 interceptions. When he returns (assuming he has 500 passes left in his career), he would have to throw an interception every nine passes to match what Urzua has done.

And the thing that makes that the hardest to deal with is we only needed a FG. It's not like we needed two scores. Hell, we could have Utah passed our way into FG range. He acted like we needed a touchdown (or two). And then we get the ball back with not much time left and he throws a 3 yard pass over the middle of the field with 14 seconds left. His bad decision making doesn't just show up with interceptions. It's throughout the game. But this is what you get when the coaches son who is basically a four star talent decides to play for dad. The other QB's transfer (Erdely, Austin Grammer, etc.) and the best they can sign is a kid who played one year of high school football.

And in other news, Marshall possibly clinches home field advantage for the CUSA Championship?
