This game is scary
Why should this game be scary? Rockets recruit better and the defense showed up against Eastern. Now the offense needs to put a 40 plus on the Chips.

Ball State and BG are the only gimmies left. When you start looking at the remaining teams, who they beat or lost to or by how much, Toledo needs take each one seriously. I think they do. The key will be O-line improvement and run defense.

With UT's history, I would never say those 2 programs are gimme's.
Toledo, unlike NIU normally does well against CMU.
Goodluck for the game!
I think we match up pretty good with CMU. Their offense is not too explosive and their QB is sloppy. I expect our DBs to pick a couple passes and our line to get more sacks than usual because he tends to hold the ball. CMU is solid on both lines and we are little weaker than usual there, imo, so I think the game will be fairly close, but we have a better qb and skill guys. Hope we get the field goal unit tightened up by then.
BG just beat the press's pre-season darling on the road. They have a new QB and some confidence now. I think we win but I'm less comfy with that notion than I was before the Swanson/Thompson injuries.
Supposedly Candle says we have 11 players done for the season with injuries, 5 of whom are starters. Thompson is obviously one of them. Who are the rest?

Tuzar and a couple of O linemen, I think.

Sure having a lot bad luck this year. Going to be tough to finally bring in a Championship.
I'm only aware of starters: WR Thompson, LG Atariwa, and DE Skipper.

RG Chandler Cotterman is also out for the year. I believe he was starting in place of Brandon Heidecker. I also saw WR Desmond Phillips in street clothes last game, but hopefully he's not done for the season.

So we're looking at:

LT Nkansah
LG Harris
C Jeppesen
RG Heidecker
RT Weiss

I noticed Kassem (67) in at LG quite a bit on Saturday.

Thompson's injury was kind of a freak thing...Atariwa looked like he got rolled up on at the U and may have suffered a broken leg / ankle as well. I wonder what the other season ending injuries are? 11 season ending injuries seem like an awful lot...especially 5 games into a season. I don't recall our injury situation last year...I wonder if we've changed our approach on the strength and conditioning side of things?

Played against very physical defenses the last two games, including the #10 team in the Nation. I can see soft tissue injuries effected by training. Bone breaks-a different story. Some bad luck. Just need everybody to step up at this point and bring their "A" game. Still a lot of talent for the Rockets.
Cotterman had been the starter at RG thru the Tulsa game. Didn't play against Miami or EMU, and saw on twitter he is having surgery today. Unknown what injury.

Jeppeson got hurt midway through the EMU game, and they moved Harris back to center, and Kassem took Harris' place. Harris was selected by the coaches as the offensive MVP against EMU. In yesterday's presser Candle said that Swanson and Jeppeson are day-to-day. Very thin on the OL as long as he is out.

So, for what I know, out for the season are starters: Thomspon, Skipper, Atariwa and Cotterman, others: Turner, Givhan. That's 6. If the reporting of 11 players out is accurate, unsure who the other five might be.
Just some injury info from a CMU fan:

- Conklin (MAC's best TE) returned for the first time this season against Ohio last week and posted big numbers.
- Willis (2nd team All-MAC WR) returned against Ohio, mainly as a decoy, missed previous 3 games.
- Coleman (1st team All-MAC DB) was out against Ohio but no casts, likely a concussion, unclear for Toledo.
- Childress #3 WR is out for the season.
- Hessbrook #2 TE has a concussion, unclear for Toledo.

I think that is it. We have been banged up all season, much like last year, but it looks like we may be healthy vs. you guys. If Coleman can play, that would be huge for us. If not, I'm sure Woodside will target whoever we put in his place. Coleman is an NFL caliber player.

True...was referring to the soft tissue type issues...not the bone breaks. Injuries are part of the game and I hate seeing anyone have to go through them...tough putting in all of that work and losing the opportunity to contribute due to injury. I hope everyone heals up and comes back stronger than ever.

Cotterman is on the new depth chart.
