It looks like the Celtics did this to guarantee him a spot on Maine's roster. It seems unlikely that he'll make the team out of camp.

The non-star players who haven't yet played in tonight's preseason game are the 4 players mentioned in the blog post as Maine roster targets, Dixon included. It is kind of weird that one of those 4 is named Jonathan Holmes.

Update: Of course, as I post that, the Celtics put in LJ Peak and Andrew White. There's a little under 5 minutes left in the game. We'll see if Dixon and Holmes get any time.

No, he and Holmes didn't get in.

He may not be getting any court time, but it sure is great seeing Daniel on the sideline in a Celtics uni, live on ESPN right now in their preseason game with Charlotte. Who would have ever predicted that as a Tribe freshman. Keep working hard Daniel!

Dixon assigned as an affiliate player to the Maine Red Claws (from the Celtics) to join Chris Flemmings of UNCW on the team who was drafted in the G League draft yesterday and traded to Maine.

I'm glad to hear that. I saw that Boston waived him on 10/12 but didn't see him on the Maine roster -- was afraid he might have fallen through the cracks somehow.

Daniel on final 12 man roster for Maine, and Marcus on final roster for Canton, to start NBA G League season Friday night. They play each other on Sunday, 11/12. UNCW's Chris Flemmings did not make the final Maine roster.

Daniel went 4-5 behind the arc tonight to finish with 14 pts and 3 assts, all in the 3rd quarter, in 20 minutes of action in a win.

Daniel followed up with another fine outing - 20pts 9 rebs 4 assists in a win.

Thornton in 23 minutes scored 10 with 3 boards and 2 assists in a loss for Canton's opener

Marcus and Daniel, both, got the starts in their games last night and played very well. They go head to head tomorrow.
