Given the talent and assuming we stay healthy. Is this team a New Years Day contender next year? Who are we losing and who comes back?
Lets focus on Kent State.
We should have a great team next year but we also play Florida State, Utah, Iowa and BYU so new years is unlikely.

Who cares at this point. We have much to be excited about this year.

Its a little cart before the horse-ish. But yeah, this team is so young and the losses will be minimal numbers wise. But they will be big impact wise. Huff, Blake, beebe, Wimann, Lurry, Lee. We are just now seeing how damn important Huff is to this offense. He's going to rain hell on Mac play.
Lets go to a bowl game, and then win that bowl game....
If Santa develops like we hope, find a replacement for Kane, find a replacement for Huff, find a couple clutch receivers, we will be incredible for the next two, three years. Hopefully, our in-game coaching will also be vastly improved. We have to take calculated risks, not reckless risks. The game was ours. Our O-line had broken SDSU's will in the fourth quarter. I think Jones could have run it in as well or Childers. I really think we should go to Childers in the red zone until we get behind the chains then bring in Santa. Of course we should work a lot with Santa in red zone passing but we need to run the Childers package and we should score plenty of TDs.
Next year? We should be 4-0. Next year is here right NOW!

We have a great defense. QB wakes up we will play for for MAC championship again. QB and kickers and we're 4-0. Have to play like winners, FINISH the game!

Hey if all those teams are ranked next year and we beat em it’s national championship or bust! We want Bama lol
Better coaching and we are 4-0. Santa could have hit all those wide open receivers against BC. Had we run the ball in the fourth quarter against SDSU, we would have overcome the turnovers and the kick 6 to beat the 19th ranked team... Coulda, woulda, shoulda.
Hopefully, we will play better and coach better to dominate MAC-tion. There is a lot to be excited about.
looking forward to MACtion. Leaving next year to next year.
While I agree that it is too early to think much about next year, I was wondering about the running backs.

Currently on the roster:

Marcus Jones: I would think that Jones would be the #1 RB, at least in the spring. While he is averaging 4.5 yards per carry (on 29 carries), I don’t see him as being that special RB we love to have.

Tommy Mister: I have not seen enough of him to get a good feel one way or the other. In the limited times he has carried the ball he seems to lack the explosiveness I was expecting when I saw his HS highlights. I wonder if he recovered from that knee injury?

Tre Harbison: I have also not seen enough of him to get a feel one way or the other. At 220 lbs. he certainly has the size advantage.

Jordan Rowell: I remember there was a lot of concern about whether he would stick; he is on the roster and I presume he will stick and will be red shirted this year. There certainly was a lot of hype about him coming out of HS. Of course, one never knows how any particular player will handle college ball. If he lives up to the hype could he be that special talent?

Jordan Nettles: Like Rowell, a true freshman. I want to recall he was not heavily recruited, but thought to be a diamond in the rough.

Dwayne Milton: I recall hearing some good things about him here, and next year is his RS Sr year.

Maybe someone that attended practices/scrimmages could give more insight?

Incoming freshmen:

Fotis Kokosioulis: Since we have 5 RBs returning next year, you would expect him to red shirt in 2018. He looks like he could develop into a very good RB.

Erick Doke III: Listed as a RB/LB. I have no information as to what position the coaches are thinking about for him, but based on our history I would say LB or defensive end, although he is only listed at 210 lbs. Since he is out with a knee injury for his senior year I would think red shirt.

Justin Hall: Listed as a DB/RB, after that one game he had I would not be surprised to see him at RB. He certainly looks explosive. He looks to have good hands; I wonder if he will be moved to WR, like DJ Brown?

Oh yea:

QB: If Santa matures/improves like many (including me) think/hope, I see him as our starting QB for the next 2 years.

Charles Robinson IV is listed as a TE, but from what I read he could pay TE or WR. He is listed at 6’3”/210 lbs., so he seems too light to be a TE, and with all the hype about what a great athlete he is, I question whether we would want to put a lot of weight on him. He talked about setting some records; at that size he sounds like a Kenny G type WR, and I would not be the least bit surprised to see him getting significant playing time as a true FR.
