They are already going to be saving $500,000-1,000,000 this year with all the budget cuts, and a move to the summit would save them 20% of what they spend now on travel. I know football would cost a good amount of $, but I'm glad to see the higher people on UMKC, turning to athletics more and more. that's a promising sign to see as a UMKC fan. And as Rooinblue has mentioned before with the ACT participants in Missouri, we are gaining a lot of ground, and our enrollment is increasing. If UMKC wants to make a name for themselves, sports wise now is the time to do it.
So if UMKC is talking football, the Summit needs to sponsor it as it won't have teams to sponsor both baseball and mens soccer to stay a conference. Sponsoring football takes away the need for sponsoring two other sports.

But football would be a major expense for UMKC (thank NDSU shells out $4 mill a year for it) and then there are facility needs. Does UMKC have access to a stadium with 10k seating?

Would the WAC take in the SDSU/NDSU/ORU baseball teams or UMKC/ORU/Denver men's soccer. Presume IPFW is gone to the Horizon and W Ill would move those teams to the MVC or Horizon.

Would UTRGV take an affiliate spot in the Summit for football if it's still being blackballed by the Southland? Maybe Chicago St was angling for a Summit berth too when fb was brought up there earlier
Will never happen. No one in Kansas City cares about UMKC.

With Mizzou and Kansas so close I usually agree but both those teams are so down right now, there is an opportunity.

Bingo.
I wonder why we are considering a move to add football.... 03-wink
So there's issues with how much the school is spending on athletics to the point they could drop to D2, and now a week later they want to add football? Can someone explain what I'm missing here?
It was an interim chancellor, and I guess UMKC know's something we don't, if that's a move to the summit or not, but they do know something that we don't, for the fact they are even considering it.
Its probably adding football if a move to D2 is going too happen.
D2 conferences in the area play football and may be a requirement.
