I see that the Big South only has 6 football members and Liberty is leaving. I can't image the conference will survive with only 5 members. Are they gaining a new school next year?

And, I think the PL only has 7.

I wonder if CAA and/or CAA Football is looking at a school or two joining us in the near future.

I think you need to have at least 6 to exist (for football at least). I assume there's a grace year or two so they can find a new member, but Big South football may be teetering on its last legs. They're kind of the conference others seem to raid for members, so not sure where they go to replenish...

There is always another Kennesaw State or whoever who wants to start a football program or move up from Division II.
I count 7 teams left in the Big South. PC, G-W, CSU, Campbell, KSU, Monmouth, and UNA will move up in 2019.

I have Monmouth, KS, GW, Pres, and CS for 2017 (plus LU). I think Campbell is in the Pioneer.

I have basically no knowledge of almost any of those Big South schools. Would any of them be a fit in the CAA?

SoCon is who we'd raid, and then they would take someone from the Big South.

I read that Monmouth has aspirations to join the CAA -- however, just because they want the CAA does not mean that the CAA wants them.

I think that the CAA already has a couple two many of northeast schools. It wouldn't bother me at all if Rhode Island and Maine joined the NEC. (I do like New Hampshire, though). Towson can feel free to go to the NEC, too, and then the CAA would have nine schools and each school would play every other school every year, with an equal number of home and away games. That would be ideal. (I cannot believe that we STILL have never played Albany in our own league).

Monmouth would be interesting; we have a lot of alums in the NE so we'd draw relatively well for away games. That being said there should be a rule you need seats on both sides of the field to join the CAA...
Did anything ever come of this?
Please, somebody post an update on this topic. I can't stand not knowing if the CAA will be adding former Big South or Patriot League members in a football-only capacity.
We're evaluating our options. :)
