would be a great option for Memphians to stay
Glad to see Overton Sq. On the rebound. Wife and I ate at Belly Acres last Sunday afternoon. Saw the BIG junior lineman from East HS. I won't call him by name.

We used to have Regional Sales conferences at the French Quarter Inn during the late 80's. New Kids On The Block stayed there prior to a show at the same time and the place was a freaking madhouse. Young girls screaming and passing out.
I used to work for MMI. They are good people, especially Scott Sledge and Micajah Sturdivant.

My favorite FQ Inn story...

There a bookie in town named Squirrel. He used to hang out a lot at Anderton's and the FQ Inn bar. About 25 years ago a friend of mine named Daniel was looking for Squirrel and called the bar at the FQ Inn. The conversation went like this:

Bartender: Hello.
Daniel: May I please speak to Squirrel?
Bartender: I don't know who that is.
Daniel: He's about sixty and has a real bad toupee.
Bartender: Buddy, you just described half the people sitting at my bar.

Is he still around? Last time I saw him was at Café Society about 6 years ago. He used to leave his sheets at the bar at Anderton's.

I think several guys on the team knew Squirrel.

No idea. But the "leave his sheets" comment made me laugh. I haven't seen a handwritten sheet from a local guy in years. Seems all the local guys now use offshore websites and just handle the money here in town.
Should increase sales in the Tourism Zone and help reduce U of M liability for cost of LBS upgrades.

I stayed there my wedding night before flying out the next day. Was a great facility. Broke my heart to see it in ruins a few years later.

I believe there were homeless folks living in there starting fires to stay warm.
In the beginning, I was told by a friend that it rivaled many of the hotels he had stayed in in Europe.
If he can get the 6 million dollar tax break he's asking for...
