I for one respect what he did for ODU during his time as a coach. That run we had from 2009-2011 was some of best basketball played at ODU. I for one wish him nothing but the best.
Agreed. He cared deep down but suffers from mental illness. I wonder if one were to ask Alex, Gerald, Frank, or Baze if he cared what they'd say. I wouldn't take him back, but I'm also not willing to vacate that 8 year stretch full of the moments and memories that turned me from a casual local fan to a fan that cares enough about the state of the program to discuss it with mostly strangers on Christmas day and I'm not going to pretend that things are better now.

Is it total doom and gloom now? No. Is Jeff Jones a horrible coach? No. Could we have done worse? Yes. The fact that the height of the program occurred under Blaine has nothing to do with Jeff Jones and due to the fact that his salary is half of what Blaine's was, I never expected we'd be back at that level sustained (I do believe Jones is capable of having a season here and there at as high of a level).

I would have Blaine back at ODU in a second if he has gotten himself healthy. I think he honestly loved ODU.

I agree so long as he stayed healthy. The administration would have to keep an eye on him to make sure he stayed on the right path. To some extent, the same holds true for any coach though, covering several things that could get them or the school on the bad side of the news.

Fair enough, I can see both sides of the argument. I just like Blaine and I'm happy to see he is doing well for himself now.

You would rehire someone who showed up to practices, games and radio appearances, basically every single duty he had, incapacitated?

I understand all he did for the university, how likable he is and I hope nothing but the best for him. But that would be opening up the university to a lot of unnecessary risk.

I said if he was healthy. Again, you are all entitled to your opinions about Blaine and I have mine.
