Because that's not true.

HOLY ****ING **** ODU COULD HAVE HAD KEVIN KEATTS AND HE JUST BEAT ARIZONA WTF WHAT ARE WE EVEN DOING

...

thank you
Haha we blew that. To think in our last two hiring processes we had an opportunity to hire Kevin Keatts and Gregg Marshall and didn't. OOPS.

Did Keatts tell YOU he wanted to come here? Or is this one of those “inside sources” BS

We could have hired Keats. At the time WS didn't think he was the right fit.We were in the middle of a total melt down and WS thought we needed a seasoned head coach to get us back on track. Which is exactly what we got with JJ. Keats went to UNCW and left asap. As far as Rhodes goes ODU will never hire a VCU coach to lead the Monarchs.

We could have also hired Kenny Johnson or Tim Fuller. Both ended up busted for cheating. Athletic Director is not an easy job.
And even if KK had been hired at ODU, there is no doubt in my mind that he'd still be at NCSU now anyway. Just like he is.
Keatts wasn't on our radar and we weren't on his. ODU was never in contact with him.

ODU and Keatts have Radar? Man, we can't even get a Maglev to work so I'm sure our Radar was probably on the fritz at the time too.

Were Ed Miller and David Teel lying or being fed misinformation?

I'm not sure if Keatts was or not. It's been beaten to death. We all know Enfield was the guy until he had success in tourney.

And we would be better for it.

This argument is the worst. We should hire coaches that are not good enough for someone to hire them away so we can keep them longer?

I love hypothetical nonsense arguments

I ain't arguing one way or the other patna. I'm just stating that he wouldn't have been here now. Mainly wondering why his name is even brought up 2 jobs/5 years later. Really didn't advocate for Jeff Jones or a Louisville assistant at the time. So not following how anything I said is a argument that is the worst. Perhaps you're confused.
I think there was some fear that Keatts (even if clean as a whistle) might be tarnished when the L’ville s**t hit the fan.

There were no issues at Louisville until nearly 2 years after we hired a coach.

There was a lot of chatter in the athletic department circles about the shady things happening at Louisville long before they became public.

Yes. Not just their Athletics department, but many coaching circles. These issues have been all over the place for years, but the combination of (1) not being able to obtain tangible evidence and (2) coaches not wanting to "rat"/go against the "code" to other coaches, has allowed these things to go on for years (if not decades). This isn't just MBB. Depending on how far the FBI really wants to take their investigations, it'll be intriguing how many schools come up, along with any issues with Nike/UA, and the inclusion of FB. My feeling will be that the FBI will stop short and won't completely expose every entity, then allowing NCAA to continue their catering to the residual P5 and "save face."
