CAA > AAC?
Nice job Drexel. We frequently had some nice battles with them when Blaine and Bruiser were at the helm for ODU and Drexel. Always nice to see a team from the fellow G5 AAC conference get defeated. It gives them another much needed dose of reality.

Oh come on. Do you really think Richmond isn't a good team to schedule or did you just want to stir something up?
Small sample size alert but ODU currently has 1/4th of all the wins Conference USA has earned this season. The conference is 30th in RPI out of 32.
ODU's current RPI is 46 and their SOS is 112th. This is all generally worthless currently but worth keeping an eye on as the Thanksgiving tournaments play out.
Conference USA is hot garbage because of the bottom of the conference. The top six or so teams are fine but the rest are a joke. Not sure how our administration got us here, but I hope they are smart enough to realize that we need to move at some point in the near future.
what did that commercial just say on the football game

The top 6 are not fine. The top couple, maybe.

Maybe UAB, MTSU, and LT could be decent. UAB and LT haven't played anyone though and MTSU isn't what they were last year. If there is any year to control the conference, it is this year. No excuses.

MTSU looks tough tho. King is on fire.
There has been a lot said about our schedule, but it could work in our favor. We have a legitimate shot at being 14-1 or 13-2 heading into our match up with WKU. VCU is the only remotely good team play until that game.

I guess it depends on what you want out of your OOC. If you're unsure how good your team is and you want a good mix of challenges and games in which you're going to be heavily favored, than this is a perfectly cromulent schedule. If you're thinking at-large bid, then you needed some things to go your way, including getting the best combination of opponents in Charleston and having a couple of OOC opponents make a better showing of themselves than expected. The loss to Temple (even with the unexpected benefit of a win over Dayton today) and Richmond turning into a turdpumpkin means that an at-large is pretty much not happening.

This isn't a team that is going to overcome all the CUSA disadvantages to get an at large. It takes a pretty dominant team to pull that off in the current landscape.

We are going to need a ridiculously weak bubble if we are thinking about CUSA as a two bid league.

And honestly, i think the schedule benefits us if we are good enough to earn an at large. Our RPI may suck, but if you play out the hypothetical with the belief that we are the type of team that is capable of earning an at large, we should win the rest of our non conference and not lose more than 2 in conference plus one in the CUSA tournament. With, 4 losses, that is about the best shot we are going to get.

If the team can avoid injury or illness (to Caver, Brandan, and Porter) then they should have a good shot at winning C-USA if they can remain focused every game. I don't think anyone is head and shoulders better than them, if at all.
Depth behind those three, especially Caver, is my biggest concern. Carver is a good sub at the 4, but not at the 5, and there would be a significant drop off if he had to start when we went to the bench.
You can't forget the very real possibility that this team will inexplicably lose to one of the 300 rpi teams in the conference. Not a year goes by they don't lose one they should have won easily. That'll pop the bubble in a heart beat.

Im almost positive we gave gone years without losing to >300 rpi

I was only playing out the ideal scenario. It is not what I believe is likely to happen in reality. I think we lose at least 2 more non con games and somewhere between 4 and 7 conference games to finish between 2nd and 4th in CUSA.

One game at a time gents. The possibility of a turd game is real.

Just keep getting better and win the league. Makes no sense to argue about an at large bid when the goal is to win games vs losing them.
Only playing 8 deep isn’t ideal for a three day tournament.
