For all my Rice brothers who lived this with me. I know it drew our country closer together, but it brought us even closer. Love you guys. Btw... we finished 8-4 that season in spite of the lopsided loss to Nebraska. I still remember everything about those days and that week and game. God bless America.

I was stuck in Omaha for 3+ weeks, as I was doing some consulting work for First Data Corp (and all flights were cut-off for over a week, and I couldn't leave until some of our junior staffers could catch flights back to Sydney). I hosted a group of avid Nebraska alums (all FDR employees) at the game. Living in NYC at the time, my co-op building management eventually called my parents after I was unaccounted for after several days to ensure I was safe.

As a native New Yorker (from Westchester Country), it was not easy watching the events unfold from afar.

I can only imagine, Walt. I had no connection to New York. But we were all American then. Definitely the most patriotism I have witnessed in my 4 decades on this earth.
