We open as 7.5 home underdogs. To be honest, thought that number would be a bit bigger.

Fun fact: We have the third longest winning streak at 8 games in FBS, behind Oklahoma and USC. Can our QB (fill in the blank here) help make it 9 in a row?
Got to believe!
I'm tempted to take UNC and hope I lose the money. I figured UNC by 10 or maybe even 14. Of course with my luck we'd lose by 3
I'd take unc here. I think that line is too small.

Is this game on BeIn or stadium?
They have major issues on defense, still uncertainty at QB, and I think one of their O-lineman got injured and is out. So let's see if those weaknesses can be exploited.
Anyone know if UNC's defensive line is good? Our O-line struggled to establish their will against a FCS playoff bubble team and a low-tier FBS indy. I worry that a P5 defensive line is going to be too much

Losing by 3 would be a huge improvement for the program. It would hurt, but would show future recruits that the school can hang with the big boys.

BeIn, I am BelievIng.
UNC lost their first 2 games. They will be out for blood against ODU. With all that said, they did lose a lot of personnel to graduation and the NFL. It will be an interesting game. I am not looking for a win unless our O-line can step up tremendously this week. It would be nice to stay competitive.
The schedule on the ODU Football web site says the game is on Stadium.
On offense:
UNC runs a Spread offense
UNC lost a lot on offense from the previous year's high scoring unit.
They have two RBs, 5'10' Sophomore Jordan Brown and 5'9" true Freshman Michhael Carter. Carter ran well vs Cal.
Carolina runs predominantly the Outside Zone rushing scheme.
Defending this will put much more pressure on our young LBs than our two previous games.
UNC is having a QB controversy of it's own; using two QBs, 6'3" Sr Brandon Harris, and 6'3" RS/FR Charles Surratt.
Both are pretty good passers, with Surratt being the better runner. Neither is a true dual threat.

Carter ran well against Cal (94 yds 8.5 per) Team total was 219
UNC only gained 17 yards on the ground vs Louisville. (QB Surratt had -31)
Top UNC receiver is Austin Proehl, a 5' 10" Sr.

On defense:
The Heels run a standard 4-3 defense, and seem to have specifically improved vs the run over last year
Both Cal and UL passed for over 300 yards vs UNC, but the Tar Heels kept Cal to just over 100 on the ground
The UL game was statistically a massacre.

Kicking:
Kicker Freeman is 1 for 2 FGs and 8/8 XPs
Punter Sheldon averages 47.5 yards.

Bottom line, IMHO:

The Tar Heels' defense is more vulnerable to the pass but since we don't pass particularly well, it still may stack the box on us if it needs to stifle our run game.
The UNC defense is likely better than the two we have faced thus far.

The Heels' offense is better at passing but our Dline and secondary should be up to that task. However, their outside zone rush may give our LBs fits. Additionally, they like to pass to RBs out of the backfield; more potential pressure on the LBs.
I don't like the matchups.

UNC 38 ODU 17

It is. We have no games on beIN.
Weber state put up 24 first downs and 571 yards on Cal. UNC had 440 yards......wow.

If our offense can run the ball well, I can see us competiting, but Im not sure i buy it just yet.
Major rebuilding year for UNC, lost a lot of talent to graduation and the NFL (I saw Switzer, Hollins, and Trubisky on TV today). Good recruiting despite NCAA but inexperienced. Playing 2 QBs like us. Surratt is the starter but may have hurt his ankle v UL Sat, if so LSU grad transfer Harris will sub in. The injury bug has also bit them elsewhere (pre-UL list):

Defense was better last year under Chizik, who retired again. D is young and dumb. Capable of great play but sooooo inconsistent. Lack of discipline. Arm-tackle U. Gave up 705 yds to UL. Prob gave up 10+ YAC on simple underneath routes, just got torched every time. Dalton and Smith are prob strongest of the front seven, but outside of that, they're vanilla.

On O, playcalling is suspect. They don't and never have played to their strengths. I've never been able to understand. Had 17 rushing yds (0.7 ypc, although that goes up to 2.5 if you discount Surrat running) THE ENTIRE GAME on Saturday. OTOH Surratt/Harris went 70% for close to 400 yds. Grad Transfer Dillard © was injured, too, I think.

Re: BeIn—I sit corrected. I could have sworn the Pilot had a thing about the UNC game being on BeIn.

EDIT TO ADD: I knew I wasn't that crazy: Minium wrote about the major TV partners not picking up the UNC game a few months ago and said it would likely be on BeIn. Apparently not.
So... if we win do we get votes for the top 25 at 3-0?
haha no
I was a little more confident about this one before the season started. We better get that O-Line straightened out.

BeIN thinks Bethune-Cookman at FAU will bring higher ratings.
