I know injury info is not as accessible as it once was, however, with the vast number of insiders here on this board (remember we are all insiders), I would like to get an update on the injuries to two key players on the defense. Anyone know anything?
No inside knowledge here. Hoping for the best, fearing the worst. Both looked bad and the looks on each player's face did not make me hopeful. Big losses for sure. Again, we were pretty fortunate in the injury area last year. I get the whole "next man up" thing but losing quality starters is tough.
Seems to me that the typical procedure for injuries at an away game is to get back to Kzoo, get the CT scan/MRI done on Sunday, and make the injury details announcement on Monday.
Assoua concerns me the most. He is such a valuable piece of our defense (not that Tranquill isn't).

Wonder what the status of Doyle is also?
Both would be huge losses if they're season ending

Doyle left a bigger hole on that OL than I think we would have thought... we need him back.
Will we find out any news on the injury front?
Torn ACL for Tranquill. Done for the season (per Andy Pepper).

Man, he's had a tough college career w/ injuries.

My heart breaks for the guy. Just can't catch a break.
Sounds like Assoua will be alright but might be a couple weeks.

Gotta believe he may be done with football after this one...
Assoua out a couple of weeks with a sprained knee. I figured right away that it was bad for Tranquill when Robert Spillane walked up and gave him a hug on the sidelines soon after he came off of the field.
Damn, that stinks for Tranquil. Good that Doyle and Assoua sound like they'll be back in a couple of seasons.
DE is very thin. Luckily there's a great crop coming in next year. Fyad is a true freshmen and has seen lots of PT in the first 2 games. Another spot that was under recruited.

Isn't it possible to get a medical redshirt, and another year, when a player goes out very early in a season? Could he possibly be back next year?

I think he already used it if I remember correctly... Do you get more than one medical redshirt?

Fyad a recruit WMU ( Lester and co) flipped from emu.He is proving to be very valuable early in his career.
Wasn't Tranquill one of western's highest ever rated recruits?

THE highest I believe. 4-star recruit.

He has been good at times, but also misses tackles and bounces off of the ball-carriers because he is undersized. Don't really see the 4-star hype. Could just be because he is young though.

I don't mean to badmouth the kid right after an injury. He's a good player and a good person. Has a bright future ahead of him.
