I just heard Alabama's fight song for the first time yesterday. I thought the following lines were funny:

"Go teach the Bulldogs to behave. Send the Yellow Jackets to a watery grave."
AND:
"Fight on, fight on, fight on men. Remember the Rose Bowl we'll win then."

The first line got me thinking - are there any other fight songs that mention other teams? Especially teams that aren't currently in their conference (they haven't played Georgia Tech since 1984!)?

As for the second line, to paraphrase Steve Goodman:
"The law of averages says anything will happen that can.
But the last time Alabama played in the Rose Bowl was the year we dropped the bomb on Japan."
NC State, "The Red and White" Not the official fight song but it is played at every game. The Carolina line is usually sung as, "Go to hell Carolina."

We're the Red and White from State,
And we know we are the best.
A hand behind our back,
We can take on all the rest.
Come over the hill, Caroline.*
Devils and Deacs stand in line.
The Red and White from N.C. State,
Go State!

For quoting the late and great Steve Goodman, you have gained considerable respect and admiration. Kudos to you, sir. ...by the light of the Mastercard moon...
04-cheers

Texas A&M:
"Goodbye to Texas University! So long to the orange and the white!"
The Kansas fight song is a continual work in progress.

Old Big 8 version:
Talk about the Sooners, the Cowboys and the Buffs,
Talk about the Tiger and his tail,
Talk about the Wildcat, and those Cornhuskin' boys,
But I'm the bird to make 'em weep and wail.

Chorus:
'Cause I'm a Jay, Jay, Jay, Jay Jayhawk
Up at Lawrence on the Kaw
'Cause I'm a Jay, Jay, Jay, Jay Jayhawk
With a sis-boom, hip hoorah.
Got a bill that's big enough to twist the Tiger's tail,
Husk some corn and listen to the Cornhusker's wail,
'Cause I'm a Jay, Jay, Jay, Jay Jayhawk,
Riding on a Kansas gale.

Big 12 version, circa 2010: (date on KU website...after Nebraska and Colorado left Big 12, before Missouri and Texas A&M left)
Talk about the Sooners, Cowboys and the Bears,
Aggies and the Tiger and his tail.
Talk about the Wildcats, and the Cyclone boys,
But I’m the bird to make ‘em weep and wail.

Chorus:
’Cause I’m a Jay, Jay, Jay, Jay, Jayhawk,
Up at Lawrence on the Kaw
’Cause I’m a Jay, Jay, Jay, Jay, Jayhawk,
With a sis-boom, hip hoorah,
Got a bill that’s big enough
To twist a Tiger’s tail,
Rope some ‘Horns and listen
To the Red Raiders wail
’Cause I’m a Jay, Jay, Jay, Jay, Jayhawk,
Riding on a Kansas gale.

No new version exists with TCU and West Virginia.

When Alabama emerged onto the national stage in the pre-war era the Rose Bowl was where it took place.

The "swamp students" comments made by the media in California helped make UA a team the entire South was able to rally behind. In fact, UA traveled to California via train, which was also derided, but thousands of people lined the tracks across the South to wish UA well.

That sentiment is contained within the lines regarding the Rose Bowl.

Also, GaTech used to be a somewhat serious game for UA.
Penn State's alternate (and frankly better, Fight On State sucks IMO) Fight Song is called the Nittany Lion:

In the Pre-B1G days, the 2nd verse went as follows (you'd think Penn State was an Ivy League school!!!):

There’s Pittsburgh with its Panther,
and Penn her Red and Blue,
Dartmouth with its Indian,
and Yale her Bulldog, too.
There’s Princeton with its Tiger,
and Cornell with its Bear.
But speaking now of victory,
We’ll get the Lion’s share.

Since 1993, that's been switched out for the following verse (which is better):

Indiana has its Hoosiers,
Purdue its gold and black.
The Wildcats of Northwestern
And Spartans on attack.
Ohio State has its Buckeyes,
Up north the Wolverines.
But the mighty Nittany Lion's,
The best they’ve ever seen.
GT - to hell with Georgia!
Navy - sink the Army

Texas Longhorns:
starts off, "and it's goodbye to A&M"
CSU fight song has a spot to fill in the opponent of the week. Typically CU is used as a placeholder
Believe UGA's has "...to heck with Georgia Tech!" in there.

That's the 2nd line after "Texas, fight, Texas fight"
correct me if i am wrong but doesn't Michigan's fight song change depending on the conference foe they are facing??

Oklahoma State has a line in two of their songs where it officially says "(opponent)", but their fans yell "OU", even when they don't play Oklahoma.

Ride, ride, ride, ride,
Ride ‘em Cowboys,
Right down the field;
Fight! Fight! Fight! Fight!
Fight ‘em Cowboys, and never yield.
Ride, ride, ride, ride,
Ride on, Cowboys, to victory;
Cross (opponent)’s goal;
Then we’ll sing “O-kla-homa State!”

GO! GO! GO POKES! GO POKES! GO POKES GO!
O!…S!…U!
O S U
The greatest in the nation
O S U
The team that’s got the go spirit and the will to win
Make a score and we’ll shout
Beat (opponent)!!
O S U
It’s orange and black we’re cheering on to victory today
And then we’ll say
O-K-L-A-H-O-M-A!
STATE!
Univer-si-ty!
Both Stanford's and Cal's refer to the other. That's if Cal is allowed to sing a fight song any longer without protest.

Updated it to include another major NC State rival. Think I'll update Bama's next.
