FAU Football Stadium
Boca Raton, FL
OK, we know what to expect from Navy offensively - the triple option running attack with a very rare pass. it is going to be physical and unrelenting. Most experts do not believe that FAU has the front 4 or the linebacker corps to stop it. On FAU's offensive side, there is still a tight QB competition. De'Andre Johnson has not separated himself from baby Driskell, so these two will see a whole lot of time under the center. These two are as different as two QBs can be. They will have to be good because I do not think we can reliably stuff Navy's run. Can FAU's offense keep up with Navy's?

P.S. Apparently, less than 5000 tickets remain for this game

Great news on the ticket sales. Y'all have had all off-season to prepare for their offense. FAU should be pretty competitive in this game.

ticket sales should be pretty good starting out and hopefully you guys can win some early to keep ticket sales going. starting with a sellout crowd doesn't seem impossible.
Just watch out for the chop blocks and knee cutting. The media certainly won't be on your side if your players retaliate.

Should anyone really be on FAUs side at this point though?
Probably gonna be a huge Navy following in Florida.

His son is on the staff, so I do not know why this should bother anyone.

There is a big Navy population in Jacksonville Fl, where Navy played ND last year. I sure many will make the 4 1/2 hour trip to Boca.

Navy is trouble the first time you face them. Can make you look silly. We've handled them fairly easily the last few times we played them but the first time we looked like a joke on the football field.

The difference is FAU will actually get a punishment for having these guys around.
To stop the triple option you need discipline. It doesn't take a great or even better than average defense. A decent defense can stop the triple option.

It's about discipline.
DE takes FB
LB takes QB
Safety take RB

Or some combination of that. One breakdown in that equal yards. We ran the Triple option in high school and were easily the least talented team in our conference every year but we were always number 1. The other teams weren't disciplined.

One of our goals was how many 10+ plays per drive we had in a game. The more plays the more likely the competition would make a mistake.

It's all about disipline
I just read an interesting article on 247 re: the transfers coming into FAU, all of which are/were highly ranked. One caveat is that of the 12 players mentioned, 5 had been dismissed from a previous university's team.
Hopefully, they learned their lessons and can take advantage of this final opportunity. If not, it could be very interesting in Boca Raton, and not in a good way.

I do not understand what your point is? Briles' son is on FAU's staff, he can not discuss his job with his father? Art Briles is not on FAU's payroll. or do you think son should accept guilt for his father?

Discipline, experience, and speed. FAU's defensive front and the linebacker corps are both inexperienced and further decimated by injuries in camp.

I hope we can put something together really fast. We'll see how good a coach Kiffin is.

? If anything we have gotten deeper in camp at both positions no one has gotten seriously hurt

We have received help from transfers, so that is true. However, 5 of the transfers (if Sun Sentinel is to be believed) have not even made it to campus, yet.
What are you talking about, only three didn't make it and they were all filled with other guys. Go listen to the Burrow podcast might learn a couple things

Chop blocking is illegal (Hitting a player below the thighs, while he is currently engaged with another player). Navy doesn't chop block. Perhaps you are referring to cut blocking, which is a perfectly legal maneuver.
