The prediction of us being top in the West, I fully agree with. Almost everything else in that article, not so much. Having Miller and Avery as our only first team pics other than special teams is ridiculous.

Of course, I have always said, it's not where you start but how you finish. I can't wait to see just how different those lists are at the end of the season.

yeah, they sure didn't seem to know much about Memphis. What the hell is Wolken doing?

The Wolken is too busy stoking the anti-Tubby bonfire with his old buddies to pay attention to those kind of details.
It is fun and cool, to me, seeing a projected divisional championship. It was not long ago I dreaded ESPN's release of the bottom ten.

Who else did he exclude and compare the exclusion to the person listed.

Best I can tell, Kuhn and Kaiser are the only other two players who would be considered for 1st team.

The two guys that were slotted in Kuhn and Kaiser's spots as 1st team were 2nd team AAC and Hon Mention AAC last year.

Flowers was POY last year and returned, so it's fair to think he should be ahead of Riley.

Other than those, who else from Memphis should be 1st team?

Tulsa has 3OL and 1RB on the all-conference team. Our two conference loses must be to Central Florida and Tulsa.
Under the radar. I like it.

You think our WR unit isn't deeper or better than SMU's. Our LB unit is 3rd (or worse) in the AAC?
I would put Cook up against the other two chosen.
Would you honestly rather have Flowers over Riley? Do you honestly think Flowers will have a better season?

But, like I said.... we will see at the end of the year.

Quentin Flowers ran for over 1,500 yards last year, over 200 against us. And passed for 2,800 with only 7 INTs all year and a high QBR. Conference POY. That guy is awesome.

Thank God Norvell got Riley, but let's be honest, Flowers is better.

That is really more of a systems question. I am not sure what Norvell would prefer in terms of a pocket passer or scramble QB... Riley appears to be a perfect fit for our offense though.
I am really surprised that OSU vs. Tulsa is considered one of the games of the year but Memphis vs. UCLA is not listed as one of the games of the year.

OSU is a darkhorse candidate for Playoffs according to some, UCLA is not.

Flowers isn't better!!? They are just different. He's a better athlete. But realize in one less game Riley passed for 886 more yards, with 8 more TDs and only 3 more ints.

Also, Todd McShay list Ferguson in his top 10 QBs in the NFL Draft... Flowers isn't.

But, once again, as far as units. We have Ferguson and three backups that are all 3* rated QBs. USF doesn't. Is Flowers THAT much better that you automatically put their QB unit ahead of Memphis?
Do you think, AS A QB, Ferguson or Flowers will have the better season!?!! As a RB, I would take Flowers every day, but not at QB.
Yes, I think Flowers is better. USF is very hard to defend, because their quarterback does things like runs for 1,500 yards. And he's an accurate passer too. Flowers is the defending POY on the pre-season favorite to win the league. And he's awesome.

No shame in Riley being the 2nd best QB in the American. I'll take the 2nd best QB in the league every year.

Different type quarterbacks. Flowers is good but we should have won that game last year.

The simplest way to look at it is that Flowers was AAC POY last year. USF finished #19 in the nation and they are preseason top 25 this year and Flowers returns.

It would be weird to raise Riley past the defending AAC POY over the summer when no football took place.
I am thankful Riley is our quarterback, but Flowers is the better college quarterback worthy of the pre-season accolades - IMO.

Is that true? I haven't read Wolken lately. But I thought he was documented as being pro-Tubby after the hire, and I know he was pro-Tubby during the whole Keelon fiasco.

Yep, Flowers will be playing on Sundays.
Hope Riley has a good year, so he will be in draft.
