Portland is a scary place because of Antifa. As a nation what should we do about these George Soros sponsored violent thugs?

Atlantic Magazine article

Those responses sometimes spill blood. Since antifa is heavily composed of anarchists, its activists place little faith in the state, which they consider complicit in fascism and racism. They prefer direct action: They pressure venues to deny white supremacists space to meet. They pressure employers to fire them and landlords to evict them. And when people they deem racists and fascists manage to assemble, antifa’s partisans try to break up their gatherings, including by force.

Such tactics have elicited substantial support from the mainstream left. When the masked antifa activist was filmed assaulting Spencer on Inauguration Day, another piece in The Nation described his punch as an act of “kinetic beauty.” Slate ran an approving article about a humorous piano ballad that glorified the assault. Twitter was inundated with viral versions of the video set to different songs, prompting the former Obama speechwriter Jon Favreau to tweet, “I don’t care how many different songs you set Richard Spencer being punched to, I’ll laugh at every one.”

The answer is simple. Arrest them whenever they turn violent.

Were the counter protesters at Berkeley violent?

I guess that makes them terrorist because they didn't go full Ghandi mode.
I think most rational people understand what Antifa really is despite their clandestine attempt to brand themselves as the good guys.

Given that rational people understand what they are, that explains why hollywood, MSM and establishment politicians don't get it.

You can't be both. You are either a protester or a rioter. If you are holding a sign and being peaceful, then you are a protester. The moment you start throwing things and destroying property, you cease to be a protester and immediately become a rioter.

So. In all seriousness. What was wrong with Trump's statement. What do you believe has inflames the left? Is it political hay making to call Trump out on not calling out the Nazi's? Is Trump already seen as racist? Or should he have just kept his mouth shut about Antifa because the kids that were run down were on the left? What do you think Trump's big error was?

Maybe they just aren't as flippant with the label of terrorist.
Every group of people is going to have bad guys who just want to cause trouble. The biggest difference here however is what each group stands for.

White supremacist stand for the superiority of the white race. That isn't what some of their flock believe, it's the premise of their entire group. That is totally unacceptable in this country unless you are a racist.

This all could have been avoided if Amazon prime didn't take two days to deliver his spine. Then going off the cuff and doubling down on his previous statements only made the claim he wasn't genuine that much more obvious.

In my opinion, there wasn't anything wrong with the statement until he stopped reading it and went off the cuff. My understanding was the he was going to condemn the White Supremacists but stopped short and changed the official statement. That is what I think freaked everyone out.

gotcha. I agree.

Do you think this is a turning point? The beginning of the end for Trump. It seems to have created an environment in which Mueller can go all out... a loss of Republican support.

Nope. The republicans will continue to support him because it will be political suicide if they don't.

I think it's going to be very bad however for white supremacists however. I don't see how they get permission to rally again after what happened unless Trump sends out the National Guard to let them do it.

The counter protesters were not just weak ass Antifa, they were also members of the clergy and regular citizens against white supremacist... This wasn't an Antifa event those people were just there. This was however a White Supremacist event on the other side that any normal person should have left immediately.

I think ignored would be more effective. Your or anyone else's condemnation does not seem to affect them.
