I don't have a problem with South Florida being where they are. But it will come down to them or us for that spot.

Go Tigers!
If you don't like it, beat South Florida. They ain't Alabama.
hopped in my delorean and got my sports almanac from the future...it says:

USF (10-2/6-2)
UCF (7-5/5-3)
Temple (6-6/3-5)
Cincy (5-7/3-5) [loses tie breaker to Temple]
ECU (4-8/2-6) [upsets BYU]
UConn (2-10/0-8) 'It'll get worse before it gets better'

Memphis (9-3/6-2)
Houston (8-4/6-2) [loses tie breaker to Memphis]
Tulsa (7-5/5-3)
Navy (7-5/5-3) [loses tie breaker to Tulsa]
SMU (6-6/3-5)
Tulane (2-10/0-8) 'It'll get worse before it gets better'

USF beats Memphis in the Champ game, 11-2 USF gets the Access Bowl...Memphis goes to Annapolis to play an ACC team...Houston goes to B'ham to play a SEC team...Tulsa goes to the Frisco Bowl...Navy goes to the Hawai'i Bowl (their coach is from Hawai'i)...UCF goes to Boca Bowl...Temple goes to the St Pete Bowl...SMU goes to the Cure Bowl
We have the tougher road in the west but much to our advantage to have the better record & be higher ranked to gain the championship game at the LB vs playing at USF. If we play at home we win, if we play at USF maybe not.
No No NO.... Please beat USF, don't want to ever go back to that dump of a stadium and neighbor!!! What a horrible joke to have a bowl game in that run down stadium and neighborhood.

I paid $20 for 4 free tickets there once.

I spent four years in Birmingham one summer.

You will want to go to FRISCO....just wait and see. This will be the best bowl in terms of activities and quality of facilities....in the AAC. After hosting several DIV 1 football championships....we have it down to a science.
Just shoot me now. I swore I would never go back to that God forsaken city. Please don't make a liar of me.
If Tigers end up in Birmingham then we will be in for a disappointing under performing season

We could be 12-1 and end up in the Birmingham Bowl.

The AAC doesn't have a tier system to their bowl games, so any bowl is possible.

Very plausible.
I enjoyed everything about Birmingham except the game and the traffic, but I'm planning on being in the Access Bowl until I see somebody stop Riley and company

If we go 12-1 and accept a bid in Birmingham then someone needs to be fired.

There would be two scenarios for us to go 12-1. Either we lose to UCLA or a road game, in which we end up winning AAC title game. Or we go undefeated up until the title game and lose at USF. BOTH scenarios would have us nationally ranked. NO WAY IN HELL do we accept bid to Birmingham Bowl.

^ this.

Memphis football doesn't get to turn it's nose up at ANY bowl game.

You need a better understanding of how bowls work. We don't get to choose, and bowls don't get to randomly pick us, just because we have a great season. Contracts are already signed and delivered. If we don't get the Access, we get an AAC bowl. Birmingham is 1 of 7. The conference decides based upon matchups and GEOGRAPHY.

Cure Bowl - Orlando - vs Sun Belt - $1.35M
Boca Raton - vs CUSA - $400k
Birmingham - vs SEC - $900k
Hawaii - vs MWC - $650k
Frisco (TX) - vs Sun Belt - NEW
Military - Annapolis - vs ACC - $1M
St. Petersburg - vs CUSA - $538k

I am SHOCKED at the payout from the Cure Bowl. That one gets my vote, with the Military a close 2nd. Birmingham has the 3rd highest payout now - pending Frisco's payout.

EDIT: So the Purdue buy game will pay better than half of our bowl games - without all the additional bowl expenses. Which brings up a question...Some buy games used to include travel costs. Wonder if this is $750k + travel?
That's a lousy bunch of bowls to have but it is what it is.... especially the payouts!!

The teams we MUST beat in order to probably stay qualified for the Access bowl are UCLA and USF...that's assuming we win all other games that we're suppose to win.

Tough road to hoe but we have the talent and depth this year to do it!!!

And the conference gets a share of all the bowl revenue too.
