If you are a Huskies sports fan, I encourage you to put this on your schedule.
The NIU Athletics Hall of Fame induction ceremony will be on Friday, October 6 in the Duke Ellington Ballroom. The evening begins at 5:30 p.m. with a cocktail reception, followed by the induction ceremonies at 7 p.m.

The “Class of 2017” includes Dee Abrahamson, Softball Head Coach, 1980-94; Athletics Administrator, 1995-2011; and NCAA Secretary-Rules Editor, 1996-2015; Steve Azar, Football, 2000-03; Mark Goodson, Men’s Gymnastics, 1976-80; Ed Kositzki, Men’s Soccer, 1969-71; Angela Lockett, Women’s Basketball, 1990-92, 1993-95; and Garrett Wolfe, Football, 2004-06.

The event is an Espy-style theatre show, with lots of surprises, videos, and guests. I attended the 2013 and 2015 award nights, and enjoyed seeing NIU legends such as Turner the Burner, Cowboy, Kellar, Novak, Battle, Bork, Petzke and others on stage together, NIU videos starring Bob Costas and Brent Mushburger, the Marching Huskie Band play National Anthem in the Ballroom, and a video tribute for Diesel.

Bill Baker is the emcee and keeps the show moving with lots of great stories.

There's also food, and it's all complimentary.

To secure complimentary tickets, just e-mail 'halloffame@niu.edu' and provide your name and number of tickets requested.
