The USA Today coaches poll is out. Coach Carey is one of the voters. Throw a dog a bone 05-stirthepot

Nebraska is listed as a snub from the top 25!

Joking, but what will it take to crack the top 25 this year?

Running the table.
Western Michigan received more votes than Toledo. Interesting.

Yeah not sure the P5 coaches did much MAC research this year.

I'm pretty certain unless they are playing a team most coaches do not pay a whole lot of attention to any team. In fact, from everything I've ever heard the coaches usually have someone lower in their reporting chain complete these polls. Makes it kind of sad that this poll was an important piece of the old BCS system.
If we beat everyone except Nebraska we might get in, if Nebraska is in the Top 25 or very close.
We're gonna beat BC and Nebraska! I'm feeling a big year out of the huskies! they're gonna be playing with a chip on their shoulders after a disappointing last season...

IF our QB play can be solid (doesn't need to be great but cannot be terrible) I think this team surprise....

Go Fn Huskies!

BC was lucky we didn't beat them last year. The home field advantage should give us a slight edge especially if our offense gets rolling. BC is no powerhouse even though they play in a power conference. They have a good running game and a solid defense. Might be the best Home crowd of the year since we don't have many home games.
Based on the reports from practices and having this hunch Graham and an ULTRA-conservative offensive approach will be in place, I'm lowering my predicted wins from 4 to 3. First downs will be very very tough to come by for this team with such predictability and inability to throw the ball.
If the HUskies beat BC and Nebraska, they will be in the top 25 and remain there unless both of those programs absolutely tank this year which I highly doubt will happen
If BC and Nebraska had their better teams I think that would be the case, but with the current state of those teams (BC around 70-90 and Nebraska 25-40), it would be hard for NIU to get into the top 25 beating just those two teams. Also the current climate we are in, you have about half the coaches and half the media who just won't cast votes for any G5 member, making it more difficult for a G5 to make the top 25 as compared to 5 years ago. Realistically I think in this day's climate, NIU would probably have to wait to get into the top 25 by beating Toledo on the road and going 9-0.

NIU opened as 2 pt favorites vs BC, BC now 2.5 to 3 favorites. Hopefully its a good game.

Throw in a SD State victory and we are definitely Top 25 if not after Nebraska win. Man, I hope we have this problem. Go Huskies, I am so fired up for the season to start. Starting this year I have two kids at NIU, I want for success during there NIU stay.

I think you are really overestimating the potential jump. NIU doesn't even have a vote yet and I don't think beating bc and eiu will even get NIU any votes. It would take beating Nebraska to even get any top 25 votes. It's would be a tough haul to get votes
NIU needs to win 11 straight to crack the top 25. To crack the top 12 and get a big bowl invite NIU would need an additional two wins from a second college play-off for mid majors.

Stop yourself lol. I like wild scenarios as much as anyone, but this is beyond even the imagination territory.
Well well well.....Had we beaten BC, my topic would be relevant. Lol
But they didn't so it's irrelevant.

Wow. Patting yourself on the back for asking a simple question for a scenario that didn't occur.
Toledo may be the toughest game of the bunch
I'm gonna get way ahead of myself because it has zero bearing on what happens on the field anyways:

If we run the table, are we in the convo for an Access bowl?
