Anyone out there want to guess what the name will be?
Food City Stadium or Eastman Credit Union Stadium
Mullins-Stanton Stadium

I wouldn't name a port a john out in the parking lot after either of those two. I will say however I've occasionally been to known to take a Stanton and wipe my Mullins. 04-cheers

Too funny!!
Who dropped the most money on this project?
As long as it isn't the MSHA Stadium I am good. Other than the obvious influx of money, I don't see a big rush to name it.
I have no problem if it's the MSHA/Ballad/whatever stadium as long as they get the $5 million or whatever they're asking for it. Pretty impressive if they actually get this thing named for a significant amount of money. Other schools at our level have to be sitting and scratching their heads trying to figure out how we do it. These guys are killing it right now.
The field, at least, out to be "Jerry Robertson Field" - or at the *very* least, the fieldhouse facilities should be named after him. As we all know, without him, we wouldn't be where we are today - nor anywhere close. In fact (although I know this won't happen), the whole stadium should be named for him. Money should NOT be the deciding factor in this, but unfortunately we know it will be.
Agree!

I wish money weren't the deciding factor too, but without THAT, we wouldn't be where we are either. I don't know anyone who has $5 million dollars to drop to honor Jerry. These corporations have to have the advertising to justify the spend, and the naming rights provide that. ETSU needs that money very badly, so by all means, go sell the name. I'm just glad businesses are even interested in paying to have their name on the facility. Without that money, we can't compete. I don't see anything "unfortunate" about it at all.

IMO (to be clear), MSHA (for the specific example mentioned earlier) only has money because Dennis and his financial compatriots have lifted it gradually from the citizenry of the 15 or so counties from which they draw most of their patients. This is not the place to litigate that, we both know. But my point is -- a lot of their money is, by *my* (and many others') accounting, partially ill-gotten. They can only "afford" to donate because they overcharge (in a huge variety of ways) patients. Would not it be preferable for them to be more ethical in their financial practices (by lowering their prices in some format(s))? I guess that question is mostly rhetorical, but not completely. Is it a greater good that that $5 million (moderately hypothetical for the purposes of this argument) go towards ETSU having a football team, sort of like a 'tax' against sick people? You know - it's possible that that's a worthy "investment", because as ETSU prospers (including athletically via the "front porch" theory, etc.), then the region as a whole should prosper in the long run. One could make a compelling case for that - but try that on the dialysis patient, or cath lab patient, etc., etc., etc.

All that said........I have a very, very hard time accepting the allowance of MSHA's name anywhere near that - and I had the very same reaction when they stuck that on the Dome. And just like back then, I most strongly suspect my voice will be ignored.

Now if another Dennis, say the Powell one, wanted his name on it for $5 million (or whatever), then I can live with that. My objection is to MSHA, because although they behave like a business, they're really not supposed to (again, this is not the place to delve deeply into that discussion; I'm just sayin').
It won't be MSHA. They know it looks bad when people are being gouged for medical care, and they are dropping 5 million for naming rights.

Then hopefully they'll volunteer to take it off the Dome, too.
I would love for it to be Robertson-Alumni Stadium at Bell Field. Won't be, but I think that would work.

That would be great. Get rid of the alien buc logo there as well.
