I ran across the 2016/2017 Nielsen Television Market Universe Estimates. WMU still sits in a top 50 market. They have Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo, and Battle Creek as one. WMU has campuses in all three cities.

It's crazy that our market is bigger than some cities that have NFL teams such as Jacksonville, New Orleans, and Buffalo.
I'd be curious to know how those numbers (national rank and, especially, #of TV homes) compares to the numbers from one year earlier.
I thought we were 39 last year

I remember that number too. I found a reference that Nielsen had GR/KZOO/BC as 39 in 2013.

Also found that the GR/KZOO/BC was ranked 41 the previous year.

Markets shift. Hopefully it can grow for us in the upcoming years.

It's all based on the population (who have tv's) in DMA counties. Kent County/ GR keeps growing yet, Calhoun County and Battle Creek keeps losing people. There are roughly 16 counties in the West Michigan market, more than the cities you have named. Markets rankings move every year up and down.
Unfortunately our "market" - the counties surrounding Kalamazoo - have never really given a danm about Bronco sports, at least not in meaningful numbers.

Umm, did you go to any football games in 2016?

Hockey 7-10 years ago?

Basketball 12-15 years ago?

Win and they will come.
