Mid Major Madness asked followers on its Twitter feed to name their three most hated teams.

Brace yourselves, but Duke is the most hated team in college basketball.

CUSA teams largely don't register fans to other programs: Western Kentucky got 4 votes, Middle Tennessee 3, Louisiana Tech 2, Old Dominion 2, UAB 2, UTEP 2, Charlotte 1, Marshall 1, North Texas 1.

How can we as a conference progress if we as fans of one of its institutions don't hate the crap out of everyone else online?

At least we know WKU hoops and Stansbury are most hated on here...Hate is really strong with the posters on here, cannot imagine how it will be if we have the success in hoops that we have had in football....

Common mistake to confuse criticism with "hate" around here.

Why would anyone around here hate a team that has done nothing of substance in the league and coach that has one sub .500 season?

Agreed... VCU plays at Seton Hall this year, I am looking forward to watching that one and hopefully a beat down on the Rams...

Teams I hate:

UGA - ugly mascot, Kirby Smart is a prick
USF - social climbers
Temple - rude, self-important rapists
Tulane - USNWR-obsessed safety school for rich East Coast kids
WKU - hicks that can't find their own football stadium
USA - why is this even an option?
UAB - ditto
FAU - narc school
Boise State - stole our thunder; unfair home field advantage
LSU* - it's not so much that I hate them, but their fans are just so fun to watch when they're bad

Teams I generally pull for if they're not playing USM:

Nebraska - family connection
MTSU - just like their colors, mascot, etc., I guess
NMSU - kind of feel bad for them; seems like a pretty good school
Kansas State - my man Dennis Rader's team
UNO - big fan of their basketball team since the Tim Floyd era
ULL - nice to see a second in-state college football program that's worth a damn

You should also check out the UTEP where the Tim Floyd era is alive & well
