Here is the first look at our team this year barring any last minute additions as they prepare for their international trip soon.

It's exciting to see our guys back on the court! Looking forward to seeing them grow and play together!

Go Tribe!

Pierce looks taller than 6-6 and not that much shorter than Nathan. Luke looks really solidly built for an incoming freshman. This could be a really fun team to watch and root for.
Hope Loewe brings some defensive intensity to this team.

Pierce looks solid. Even Burchfield looked taller. Wonder where Cohn was....

Tough stretch on the staff, conducting practices/prep while heading into the third and final July evaluation period....Especially, since no doubt many of our targets may be at events in Vegas.

Hmmm, in some of those group shots near the end I count at least 12 guys, including several faces that I did not recognize. Since I don't think Cole Harrison was in that video then I wonder who the extra body(ies) were. Just local strap-hangers asked to assist with practice? Student body wannabe walk-ons? Does anybody know? Duh - They might have been coaches - but I didn't recognize them as such.

I don't know, looks like the usual guys. There are currently (not including Harrison) 12 guys on the roster.
New Guys
0-Williams
12- Loewe
2- Milon

#21 Oliver Tot's hair is cut very short. Former walk on Glover is #1. Other walk on, Omar Mostafa is #24

Everybody else was in the rotation and looks the same as last year.

Thanks Mr. J. But ....Wait, the roster shows only 12 guys INCLUDING Harrison. I looked at the video again full screen on my home computer and I did see all 11 guys not counting Harrison. When I counted extra bodies, turns out those other guys were, I think, assistant coaches. My agile brain (finally) picked up on that the players all had numbers on their jerseys and those other guys did not.
Defensive conference rankings, by Sagarin (W&M, the CAA champ, and the CAA tourney winner):

The good news is UNCW proved you don't have to be good at defense to win, you just need to show you can do something on defense if you have a monstrous offense. Either W&M gets religion this season, or this season ends like the last 5 have ended- a great offense falters just enough that it can't cover for the defense.

Not so sure we will have a great offense this year without a proven consistent double digit scorer like the past 5 years in Thornton & Prewitt.
Would love to be a fly on the wall as this year's rotation develops. With such a lopsided roster (only 4 of the 12 are naturally front-court players), the real fun will be seeing who is practicing in the front court.

Who is the emergency center?

Who is the third forward?

I know of folks feel we play with one big man and four interchangeable parts on the outside, which would make my questions moot.

However, against teams who don't play with three guards, we need to be able to handle opponent's size when we're on defense or rebeounding. (Towson is a whole other level of this problem.)

In other words, when we're playing a real team, we get manhandled! It's a paint game.
Not any more Socal. It's a run and shoot threes game now. We're well equipped for that. With the reduction in the shot clock, it forces teams into a run and shoot mentality.

Until you get into the Big Dance, when it's still a paint game. We can worry about that then

New practice photos up. Looks like Cole Harrison is #15
Saw Cole Hamilton in his uniform at Kaplan Arena yesterday while getting some tickets.

He is very large..not just his height (6-11) and weight (which has to be closer to 270 than 250!),
but he's very wide. Just by standing there, at the very least, he will clog up the middle for the Tribe.
