Cavaliers All-Star point man Kyrie Irving reportedly asks the club to trade him

I'd trade Mike and Marc for Kyrie and Love right now.
Makes sense for him to want out from under that dysfunctional owner / management group and circus of a program. Does not make any sense for him to say he wants to get away from LeBron. It makes him look like part of the problem and part of the dysfunction.

I disagree. Remember, Kyrie and Kevin Love didn't sniff the playoffs until Lebron came back to Cleveland. Total of 9 seasons played with no playoff appearances until they played with Lebron.

Both are good shooters, Kyrie is a great finisher, but both are very poor defenders. They are both best being complimentary stars.

You can't.

Cleveland would have to add $10mm more in salary to make it work.

Marc and Mike will make a combined $51mm in 17-18.

Love and Irving will make $41mm this coming year.

As opposed to Marc and Mike?

Kyrie is 25, Love 28.

Mike is 29, Marc is 32.

Yes, as opposed to Mike and Marc. When have either Mike or Marc ever had a player like Lebron to draw defenders off them?

Kyrie is a dynamic scorer, but Lebron runs the offense. Love is clearly the 4th best player in the trade. Total defensive liability at this point. At times in the playoffs, Cleveland couldn't even have him on the court. Love has been available for trade since the season ended. Cavs dangled him for Paul George, and tried to get someone to take him in a multi-team trade so they could go after Melo, no takers.

I get the age differences, but better to look at remainder of contract. Team acquiring Kyrie only guaranteed to have him for 2 years. After that, they will have to pay Harden numbers to keep him - $40M per year. Any team that does that will be quickly disappointed, IMO.

Lebron makes all his teammates look better. You think Kyrie will have those clean drives to the basket if Lebron is not there? I don't. And I say that not even being a Lebron fan, don't like the guy much.
My gut tells me that Kyrie ends up in a big market when he is a FA. I know reports indicate that he wants to be the focal point of a team, but I'm sure he also believed LeBron would leave after this season and he didn't want to be in the Celevand market anymore.

That said, I doubt Kyrie would want to be in a city like Memphis. I bet he wants NY or Miami or Chicago.

Kyrie was 21 years old and three years into the NBA when Lebron came back.

You replace 19, 20, and 21 year old Mike Conley on the 2012-14 Cavs an you saying he's leading those teams to the playoffs?

C'mon.
This makes more sense
“Word is Kyrie wants a trade because LeBron banged his girl"

Works in the ESPN trade machine. Cleveland has trade exceptions. I don't know why that works but Conley and Irving doesn't.

Doesn't have to be an exact match. Basically, teams over the cap have 25% wiggle room to match salaries. "Teams above the cap cannot acquire more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary they trade away."
