Changes are coming to the parking area on the East Side of Huskie Stadium where the student tailgate area will move to the southwest corner, with RV parking relocated to the southeast corner of the east grass and donor parking on the north side. This configuration will provide easier access to the stadium for students.

For those that park on the East side. Nice of them to do this once renewal packages were sent out 05-stirthepot

It's just not fashionable these days for students (and some adults) to actually go into the stadium when they can stay outside in the parking lot and get drunk there.

So your issue is that they will move the RVs from side closest to the stadium 50 yards over to the further side closer to Stadium Drive East? Cause that is the only thing I see.

That being said I don't see why athletics is doing this for these particular locations.

If you wanted to move the students it would be better to move them to the Northern half of the East lot so that they are closer to the dorms and would be less likely to shout obscenities to visitors and their families walking down the sidewalk of Stadium Drive South.

Heck put a DJ just South of the softball field in the East lot to spin some current game day music for the student tailgate section so that maybe that lot doesn't have 6 club sized speakers playing 6 different tunes at max volume.

My issue with Athletics and the student tailgating the past 10+ years is I have seen very little advertising (social media, Northern Star or just posted online) that students are allowed to get a season tailgate pass let alone how to obtain the pass. Despite my old man gripes above I (and Alums) would rather see the student lot full of cars and students.

You missed the part that says donor parking is on the North side now. Realize the fact that you have to give a certain level, and pay a fee for a spot that is guaranteed. Nothing about a move was conveyed when I and many others paid our renewal. Also there are people I tailgate with and some of them have RV's and it's just more convenient to be close. I'll deal with it, but they way they handled this was sh*tty.
So they moved the students closer to the stadium and moved the paying donors (who generally sit on the west side), farther from their seats?

We aren't talking about a massive stadium here...

It doesn't matter how big the stadium is. The people that park on the east side are donating over 1k each year for the right to be treated better than those that donate less or not at all. I've been complaining to the athletic fund for years about how terrible it is to navigate through the east side lot. The students should be moved to the dorm area outside Stevenson Hall and allow the donors to park next to the stadium as we were told in our packets.

The students are paying 20K plus to attend NIU, i'd give them the treatment since it's their school and all.

They can just walk thru the Practice Center.

Yes, and "the yard" is being moved indoors for MAC games I believe.
I'm confused. The students have a farther walk to the southwest side of the stadium AND they sit on the east side of the stadium. Meanwhile those in the west lot being moved to the east lot normally sit on the west side. How does this improve things and not make everyone walk farther? What am I missing?
It's really only 2 games any parking changes will matter. I guess that's one upside of not having home games fans are able to attend

The more accurate question would be what is the athletic administration missing?
Answer: Common sense
Guys, don't worry about it, they are ahead of you on this. Let it play out.

Yeah I guess I see the down side of things when it comes to NIU athletics now. I definitely did not used to be like that. I don't mind if NIU athletics goes into demise because they are outplayed on the fields, what irks me and has made me cynical are the self-inflicted wounds NIU and MAC leadership have committed. It does go to show you how a lack of leadership and bad decisions can destroy a future. There is only so long good coaching and players can bail out a conference.
