While I dislike his politics and feel he should have retired long ago I certainly hate to hear that.
he's served this country in a variety of capacities over his life.....to that I have to pay homage....unfortunately, term limits weren't part of his final patronage....

the question now becomes what next from AZ?
Best Wishes for Senator McCain

In case of a vacancy in the US Senate, the Governor of Arizona appoints a member of the same party. That member serves until the next general election.

So Gov Ducey would appoint a Republican. This person could run for election in Nov 2018. Winner of that race serves out the remaining 4 years of McCain's term.

Does Arizona wait? In Alabama the law states "timely," so we have a couple dozen fighting for Sessions' old seat next month in a lunatics vs. criminals death match.
I didn't respect his politics but I always considered him to have the best ethics/morals that only a handful of politicans could match.

Arizona Law specifies next General Election. So appointment now, election in Nov 2018
A real shame. Hope for the best.

The Keating 5 say hello.
Terrible news. I not a political fan of his, but I have no ill will towards anyone in congress. He has my prayers.

Just curious... Does anyone know if McCain is one of the few congressmen that actually signed up for Obamacare after democrats and chief justice Roberts forced this legislation on the country?
Don't quit on McCain! He's a fighter. He'll beat this!
awful. I have a friend with it too. he had brain surgery recently.

John McCain is an American hero & one of the bravest fighters I've ever known. Cancer doesn't know what it's up against. Give it hell, John.

+1

Wish him well and hope he beats it.
He should've retired years ago and gone about enjoying life on a beach somewhere.

Congress has a pretty spiffy healthcare plan and if I recall correctly, they exempted themselves from the mandates of the Affordable Care Act. If any signed up for it, it was just for show.

Doubt he signed on for an ACA plan. Even if he did he probably still qualifies for the Congressional plan. And he is wealthy and could pay OOP for anything insurance doesn't cover unlike most of us shlubs.
