The Dukes have 9 guys entering camps over the coming days/week. They include...

Khalid Abdullah, RB, NYG
Daniel Brown, TE, CHI
Mitchell Kirsch, OL, CHI
Derek Hart, LS, GB
Dean Marlowe, S, CAR (waived by Panthers due to injury...could return on IR
Arthur Moats, LB, PIT
Taylor Reynolds, CB, ATL (no longer with Falcons)
Earl Watford, OL, JAX
Josh Wells, OL, JAX

While guys like Moats and Watford are well-established, it will be fun watching if the 3 rookies will make their way into consideration for the final 53-man roster (or practice squad). The Giants' first practice, for example, is right around the corner on Friday, July 28, at 11:40am. The NFL passed a new rule this year that eliminates the initial cut after Week 3, a lot more guys will have a chance to play in Week 4.

Just a few TV matchups in the first 2 weeks of preseason of note...

Best of luck to our Dukes as they attempt to advance their careers!!! COGS
Appreciate the well organized post. Hoping a the vast majority of our guys are able to stick in some fashion!
One of the things I miss about CAAZone was the annual poster of the year thing (until the Mason guys running it got busy/bored).

Wearing Purple would be our winner for sure.
Five star post. Thank you!
Moats is turning the corner on a long NFL career.
Really hoping Wells and Marlowe can stay healthy and we can see what they can do.
Well I put in a good word for wells and watford as the jags ol coach is a good friend of my dad.

Was hoping to play golf with him this weekend but he is heading back down to jax tomorrow for start of camp.
Awesome post...is this the most dukes in nfl at once? [Assuming positive outcomes for all]

Yes. This is the most JMU football alumni on NFL rosters at one time.
Many lower half fbs programs don't even have this many in the league right now.

There was a post on a FCS fans facebook page comparing App, ODU, GSU squared to the top FCS programs - NDSU, us have WAY more pros than they do. I wonder why that is?

It's hard to showcase your skills when you're always losing.
We are better than many G5 programs...not surprising really. Certainly (hopefully) nfl success at this level isnt an argument to stay FCS :)

Who is the duke that had the longest overall NFL career? I'm guessing Charles Haley? How long was he?

And next to Charles may be Ed Perry, who played 8 years in the NFL, and has the interesting trivia attached to his career that he was the last player to catch a TD thrown by Dan Marino.

Arthur Moats, if he stays healthy, no doubt will surpass Ed's stay in the NFL, and of course, Arthur ended another HOF QB's career. 04-jawdrop

Gary Clark played 11 seasons in the NFL and only two fewer games than Haley, plus a couple seasons in the USFL to start his pro career. Pretty incredible longevity for a guy listed at 175 pounds.

I'm sure I remember it being discussed at some point, but does Gary Clark have any ongoing affiliation with JMU? Is he ever on campus or at alumni events etc? I would assume, based on his years in D.C, that he still lives relatively close to the JMU campus (within a reasonable drive/flight)

I saw him at Homecoming a few seasons ago.

It seems that I remember saying that he's not overly connected with the school. probably just busy. I read, a few years ago, that he owns a restaurant in the DC area so he must still live somewhere fairly close.
