I still liked reviving some variation of the Metro name.

It probably would have been confused with the MAAC. There's already a C-USA and America East but there's no D-I conference that goes by United anything. Call it the United Conference, that sounds catchy and inspiring, even if it partially sounds like a rip off of the Horizon and Summit Leagues.

Not to mention a few schools don't really fit the Metro definition.

That was the case in the original metro, USM and arguably a couple others weren't but it worked mostly.

The only outlier is ECU and it's not like they're in the wilderness or have no appeal in a number of metro areas.

The Metro schools are the majority and should promote the direction and brand for the conference. We don't need those suburban schools telling us what to do.

You likely settled with AAC so it'd show up first in the phone book. The A1A Conference.

Sub "Metro" for "football" and that's very similar to the old Big East mentality. We all know how that ended...

We should nickname the West Division as The Plains Powers. (Even if most of us aren't technically in the Great Plains. We're close enough)

Let's call it the Power Conference...they'll have to include us then!
