I gotta turn my ****** news app off on my phone because the news is ****... all ****.

I wanna know one thing: when can I buy a normal health INSURANCE policy again? Why is my health insurance premium equivalent to the car payment of a mid-sized Mercedes when I have PERFECT health?

When did it become normal not to understand basic concepts of risk control like insurance?

in·sur·ance
inˈSHo͝orəns/
noun

a practice or arrangement by which a company or government agency provides a guarantee of compensation for specified loss, damage, illness, or death in return for payment of a premium.

When can I start buying homeowners insurance AFTER my house burns down, gets blown away, or demolished by one of Oklahoma's fracking earthquakes...

When can I start buying my auto insurance AFTER I plow into the local liquor store on a Friday night 5 mins before closing?

I'm hot folks!

* Not a real Ben Franklin quote but this is:

"All the Property that is necessary to a Man, for the Conservation of the Individual and the Propagation of the Species, is his natural Right, which none can justly deprive him of: But all Property superfluous to such purposes is the Property of the Publick, who, by their Laws, have created it, and who may therefore by other Laws dispose of it, whenever the Welfare of the Publick shall demand such Disposition. He that does not like civil Society on these Terms, let him retire and live among Savages [sic]. He can have no right to the benefits of Society, who will not pay his Club towards the Support of it"

Please forward my apologies to Bernie.

Here's the real quote and source:

“A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government. A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy...” ― Alexander Fraser Tytler

Regardless of who said it or why they said it, the moral and how it applies to America today is quite clear.

Gotcha. So you took a quote from a cynic of democracy and representative governments and attributed it to a founding father.

Sounds legit.

I'm just trying to help you out man. I mean someone obviously fooled you into thinking that a quote about democracy was attributed to a great American who's ideas our country was literally founded on but were actually the thoughts of someone who thought the "American Experiment" was doomed to failure. I mean these are polar opposites. Your world must be all topsy-turvy right now. Now you're posting about "snowflakes" so it's obvious that you don't think for yourself. Are you religious? If so, I'd go thank whatever god you pray to that you were born here because it's clear that you wouldn't pass Trump's extreme vetting process.

No? Learning that our founding fathers didn't share your ideals and that you're just gullible rube, a pawn of a malevolent political machine doesn't turn your world upside down? Still the same self-assured ******* that loves the smell of his own farts?

Oh well, I tried.

I agree the quote is most likely misattributed but it is listed all over the place in fairly reputable places; it's even on the George Mason.edu website:

http://econfaculty.gmu.edu/wew/quotes/wisdom.html

It was actually printed in newspapers back in 1951 so it's not just some teapartier's overnight machination.

But more importantly, it was in lodged in the back of old C0|db|00ded's coconut where only non-corruptible data resides. Thanks for the debugging!

After the election, I got so drunk on liberal tears I couldn't see straight for a week. Videos like this are porn to me.

The highest rated comment was sublime in it's eternal succinctness.

Can you believe I posted this thread in the wrong forum too? I didn't see the specific politics section. So much fail from me today.

Lemme ask you a serious question: Do you think Trump and his family are all Russian double agents waiting to be activated? Because if they aren't, the mainstream media is wasting all our ******* time.

Report on healthcare! Report on tax reform! Report on terrorism! Report on immigration reform! That's what concerns the American people.

We could argue until we're blue in the face about democrats vs. republicans, red vs. blue, conservative vs. liberal, etc.

I'm an independent sort of guy. I lean right in some areas and left in others.

From the moment he announced his candidacy, Trump has made a fool of himself. I could bring up facts, but they don't really register with his die-hard supporters. You have a hunch about him, or maybe you just don't want to admit you're wrong. Whatever. Anyway, point is, well before he sealed up the GOP nomination, I couldn't listen to him speak for more than about a minute without thinking, "this guy is a f__king moron."

And, that's really it. I have nothing more to say about Trump. He's an embarrassment.

how's that #TrumpCare going? lol, so much 'winning'

https://www.washingtonpost.com/powerpost...c7dedbdadd

Quote:Two more Senate Republicans have declared their opposition to the latest plan to overhaul the nation’s health-care system, potentially ending a months-long effort to make good on a GOP promise that has defined the party for nearly a decade and been a top priority for President Trump.

Sens. Mike Lee (Utah) and Jerry Moran (Kan.) issued statements declaring that they would not vote for the revamped measure. The sudden breaks by Lee, a staunch conservative, and Moran, an ally of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), rocked the GOP leadership and effectively closed what already had been an increasingly narrow path to passage for the bill.

They joined Sens. Rand Paul (Ky.) and Susan Collins (Maine), who also oppose it. With just 52 seats, Republicans can afford to lose only two votes to pass their proposed rewrite of the Affordable Care Act. All 46 Democrats and two independents are expected to vote against it.

In a pair of tweets Tuesday morning, Trump decried the defections, called for letting the Affordable Care Act “fail” and vowed to keep pushing for a GOP plan.
