New look on the gobearcats site for the updated roster.

Some interesting inclusions, missing names and position listings. Gibson on the roster. Confirms that a few of the defensive recruits this past class did not make it to campus.

That's certainly interesting regarding Gibson. I suppose there must be rules about putting a players name up on the website like that. Don't some people on here have ways of checking whether he is enrolled or not? Or that wouldn't happen until the fall semester begins?

Thank god Mike Warren is on that list. Thanks for posting this, Rath.
Jerell White and RJ Potts both listed at LB.

JJ Pinckney is back on the roster at WR...seems like that kid has been on and off the list several times over the last year.

Doug Bates is now listed at OL.

Kyle Trout from OSU is now on the roster.

The Aussie looks to be the only punter listed.
Who is all missing from the c/o 17?

Ben Hutch
Lorenzo McCaskill
Jabari Taylor

Ive heard of some of the walkons joining the team but haven't heard of the guys below - any info?

ANGELO HOWZE
JOSIAH ROBEY
DEMARCO BAKER

Grant Schmidt, the OL transfer from OSU last year is not on the roster.

He is enrolled. The article that came out a month ago said he was redshirting. Redshirt players can practice with the team (usually on the practice squad) and are listed on the roster.
I haven't done it yet but one addition to the roster functionality is there is a drop down for prior years' rosters. Would be interesting to compare to see who all left the program after the coaching change.

I still don't understand where anyone got that he was ever in doubt of coming here...

There are only 10 true sophomores...our old staff used the Redshirt like kids playing EA NCAA '14 03-lmfao
If they were in the same format a quick export of the lists and a vlookup could easily tell the differences.. unfortunately the 2016 roster doesn't display similarly at all so good luck to whoever wants to do a full compare with either data cleanup or hand checking..

ANGELO HOWZE

Howze was a high school teammate of RJ Potts. He started on both sides of the ball for Fishers (TE, DE) which is a school with a big enrollment.

Robey is Joker Philip's nephew. He was honorable mention All-KY Football on offense and scored 21 TDs his senior years.

Baker was a beast at Woodward. He was the SOPL National Division defensive player of the year. Per an article I found in the Enquirer he had an Air Force Offer.
Four defensive tackles and five kickers. I know some of the DEs can swap in, but this has to be a concern.

Thanks. I think Howze is a good student too. On one of his recruitment pages he stated and he wants to be an anesthesiologist and was considering Vanderbilt.
Interesting note. There are 49 players listed as Freshmen or RS Freshmen. Walkons are included in there too but when you are talking about a total roster of 110, that's a lot.

Yep. Look at our LB corp. Jailyn Minor is a Senior, Perry Young is a Sophomore and the rest are freshmen.

6 Perry Young LB 5-10 208 So. 1L Birmingham, Ala. / Spain Park
8 Jarell White LB 5-10 200 Fr. HS Cincinnati, Ohio / LaSalle
17 RJ Potts LB 6-3 205 Fr. HS Indianapolis, Ind. / Fishers
33 Jaylyin Minor LB 6-1 238 Sr. 2L Navasota, Texas / Navasota
34 Kyle Bolden LB 6-1 218 Fr. HS Cincinnati, Ohio / Colerain
40 Ty Sponseller LB 6-3 213 Fr. RS Mason, Ohio / Mason
41 Joel Dublanko LB 6-3 235 Fr. RS Aberdeen, Wash. / IMG Academy
45 DeMarco Baker LB 6-3 215 Fr. HS Cincinnati, Ohio / Woodward
49 Tyquan Statham OLB 6-0 220 Fr. RS Oakwood, Ga. / West Hall
Holy Moley the defensive front 7 is really thin and young. Freeman may have to run the equivalent of the Box & 1 all year.

Idk about the other 2, but Ben Hutch has been pretty adamant on social media about this year just being a detour in his journey to UC.

I woulda figured Lorenzo McCaskill was a surefire kid to make it. After all, he got that last min. offer to MSU (supposedly his dream school) so I figured he was golden. Guess his academics weren't in line...?!? who knows.

It's a bit higher than normal, but not that unusual. I just pulled up the Louisville & Miami (OH) rosters from last year (2015) to compare. Miami had 55, Louisville had 43.

Remember when Butch Jones made all the excuses about having a young team in 2012? I called BS then, and said he was merely grandstanding to potential employers (he was saying, "If I can do this good with these kids, think how good I'll do with some real players!"). We won two Big East titles (2011 and 2012) with 41 and 47 freshmen/RS frosh, respectively.
