Since Herman and Fickel are friends is there a chance UC could get a home and home with Texas? Is there a chance this can happen? What say you.
Since the Big 12 plays 9 conference games, I would rate it as unlikely.
I'm sure we could get an away game at Texas, but no way we get a home and home.

No, not while we're G5. Even as a P5, who gets home & homes with the bluebloods? Almost always it's the other blue bloods. If we were P5, maybe a 2 for 1.

I don't see any reason it would not be a possibility to go to Austin to play. They have to fill their schedules out some way.
I doubt we will get a home and home with the Longhorns. We'll see the coaches relationship pay off in other forms-- like earlier this month when Fickell and Herman had a clinic for recruits down at Florida Tech. I also would not be surprised to see a little quid pro quo at times with recruits, like we saw with Butch Jones and Rich Rod (ie. Adrian Witty was a high school teammate of Denard Robinson. RR worked with Jones to finding a spot for AW).

Texas has vacancies in their schedule in 2020, 2021, and 2022.
Big 12 has a 9 game conference schedule so every other year Texas will have 5 home conference games 4 away. With 3 remaining OC games to schedule each year it's possible one date could be available every other year for UC if Herman wants to play Fickel/UC. In 2017 Texas has 7 home games and 5 away.
I don't think there is anything in it for UT to schedule such a game and risk losing to UC

I agree. Particularly if the conventional wisdom is true--that UT didn't want the likes of UC in the Longhorns' private sandbox otherwise known as the Big 12.

Too bad UC couldn't catch them for a game during Charlie Strong's long slide out of relevance. If they could lose to Kansas they could certainly lose to UC. Of course we had our own issues going on concurrent with that!
Don't we have a home and home against Nebraska? Who is often considered a blue blood.

Not sure if you can compare the two really. Scheduling home and home with an opponent is often about recruiting. Nebraska has very little homegrown talent. They have to shop elsewhere for recruits (and now that they are in the B10 they rely on Midwestern recruiting much more than they did in their Big8/B12 days when they feasted on Texas and Oklahoma recruits). Texas has so much talent they do not need to leave the Lonestar state.
I'm sure we could get a home and home with our home game scheduled for 2052.

Yes, well played. By 2040, the Millennials will control Congress and make college football illegal for health and safety reasons, saving Texas from this dreaded return game. Texas will offer a Quidditch match in old Nippert as a consolation for the lost gate receipts.

Quidditch would be sweet at Nippert. The image of a millennial flying too closely to doss' box and getting clotheslined by his cane is tantalizing.
I attended a Quidditch match at the University of Virginia. Very enjoyable. Would have been moreso if the concession stand was open.

I looked at their schedule. They seem to be going with the OSU model of one marquee intersectional home and away game and everybody else comes to Austin for a payout game. Maryland may not seem like a marquee game, but it is intersectional in a major media/recruiting market and they're playing it in the Redskins stadium.

Oh no!
We have a much better chance of playing the Mean Green before we play the Longhorns. Closer to C-USA than the B12.
