How The Tournament Works

There will be two separate brackets in the College World Series. Oregon State, Cal State Fullerton, LSU and Florida State will make up one bracket, while Texas A&M, Louisville, TCU and Florida will make up the other. For clarity's sake, let's consider these Divisions 1 and 2.

As we mentioned before, this is a double-elimination tournament, which means—you guessed it—a team will have to lose twice before being eliminated. After the first four games are played, there will be a winners bracket and a losers bracket for Round 2.

The losers bracket in Round 2 consists of elimination games.

In the following round, the winners of the losers bracket will face the losers of the winners bracket in another group of elimination games. The winners of Round 3 will then play the winners of the Round 2 winners bracket—twice if that's what's needed to hand the final team its second loss.

The emerging teams from Division 1 and Division 2 will then face off in a best-of-three series for the College World Series title.

Oregon State comes back from 4 down to beat CS Fullerton 6-5.
And that 8th inning is why FSU baseball fans are hoping Martin will finally retire next year
Tough 5-4 loss for FSU. They will play CS Fullerton in an elimination game next. That's a matchup worthy of a final, extremely tough field this year.

FSU avoids elimination, beat CS Fullerton 6-4.
Good work by the Noles to keep things going ... After giving up the lead with a 2 run homer, I worried they may have lost it there. But they showed some mental toughness, quickly retaking the lead.

Good job FSU!
Oregon State (2-0) beat LSU 13-1. LSU (1-1) will take on FSU (1-1) in an elimination game on Wednesday.
Oregon State looks damn good. That record they have is no joke. It will take a special effort to knock them off, in my opinion.
Cards lost to Florida 5-1. The Gators only managed to get 3 hits off of our starter but 2 of those were HR's & accounted for 4 runs. They capitalized on the few Cardinals mistakes & Singer pitched exceptionally well for them. Cards (1-1) will face TCU (1-1) in an elimination game on Thursday night. FSU (1-1) takes on LSU (1-1) in an elimination game tonight. Oregon State (2-0) & Florida (2-0) are just 1 win away from the finals.
Florida pitcher was tough last night. His pitches had tons of movement, and he was dialed in on the strike zone. Combine that, with the timely hitting the Gators had, and it was a long game for the Cards.
LSU eliminated FSU last night 7-4. LSU (2-1) will now take on Oregon State (2-0) with the Tigers needing to win 2 out of 2 to advance to the finals.

Louisville (1-1) will take on TCU (1-1) tonight in an elimination game. The winner will need to win 3 games in 3 days to advance to the finals, Florida (2-0) awaits the winner tomorrow.

Well "Go, Cards!"
TCU is gifted 2 runs by the umpires. Even Mr Magoo could see the base runners knee move the catchers glove on the replay. Should have been the 3rd out but instead he's called safe & they got an RBI single with the next batter. Not only did that lead to 2 runs it chased our starter out of the game after 1 2/3. 4-0 TCU at the end of 2.

Those 2 gifted runs proves to be the difference as TCU won 4-3. Cards coach became the first ejected in a CWS in 10 years as the second base umpire called a Cardinals base stealer out in the 8th although replay showed him to be safe by a lot.

To be fair to TCU though it was Louisville poor execution that put them in that situation in the second inning. If they properly execute throwing out a stolen base attempt at second then they would have gotten out of the inning with 0 runs scored.
LSU-Florida in the final. Boring unless you like the SEC.
I'd rather sit on my back porch and watch the grass grow.

Isn't that basically what college baseball is ... watching grass grow w/ some cold ones in hand.
McKay had the opportunity to be the #1 draft pick but he turned it down & went 4th. Why? The Rays offered more money than the Twins, he received a $7 million signing bonus from the Rays.
