The Cajuns softball team wound up #19 in the final two national polls released yesterday. The is the sixth consecutive season with at least a top 20 finish and the 12th time in the 15 years Michael Lotief has been coach. They've been listed for a span of 70 consecutive polls dating back to April of 2013. They also participated in their 19th consecutive NCAA tournament and their 27th appearance in the last 28 years.

D.J. Sanders, in addition to being selected as a 1st team All-American (with teammate Aleah Creighton) has been named as one of four nominees for the Honda Award for softball which is presented to the top women athletes in 12 NCAA-sanctioned sports and signifies "the best of the best in collegiate athletics".

It has also been posted on various boards and in interviews that Alissa Dalton, #34 in Flo Softball's Top 100 for the class of 2016, will be transferring from the Oklahoma Sooners to the Cajuns this summer and be immediately eligible. She started the first half of the season, and after an injury, struggled to get back info the field after getting well. She is currently a member of the USA Junior Women's National Team.

Also, Cajun pitcher Signee Casey Dixon of Willis (Texas) High School was named the 2016-2017 Gatorade Texas Softball Player of the Year.
