Not sure you want a center that shoots 52% on free throws. Just sayin'.
This addition really fits a very specific need. I love this fit!!!! Cullop is increasingly switching the roster to quickness and athleticism but we still need some looming presence in the post and this is a solid strategic move.

Good job Coach Cullop!!!!! She likes the foreign players.

Go Rockets!

A troubling stat but if she can score down low and defend well I'll live with it
She won't need to be a scorer, IMO. Her size and presence will help free up others on the offensive side, both on the wing & in the post, like Kaayla, and with the number of shot blocks she had, she'll allow us to cheat a bit when defending on the wings. Had a decent freshman campaign--look forward to seeing her as a Rocket!

Worked out OK with the men. Of course, Taylor didn't shoot 52% but he wasn't far below that. 03-wink sounds like a solid role player who may become more with experience.
That is a big body!

I suppose you want to get rid of McIntyre, then?
Great get! Really fills a need for more depth inside. Interesting that with this player, and Cunningham, UT got 2 transfers from players who were starting for their perspective teams as freshmen. That's making the most of your transfers.

As for the FT shooting, she only took 19 shots, and take away the 0-4 performance against the Rockets, and it's 66% the rest of the season. Yo Richardson was not much of a FT shooter either, but was still a heck of a player for UT.

Splitting the difference between what she made and perfect, she left maybe a point off the score board per game. It doesn't sound like much, might have come in handy against UC-La, plus there were the turn-overs. That under 500 FT % is not good.

I suspect if this player would be available THIS year, it would be a win-win as far as McIntyre, giving her more rest, a bit less to do. This would probably result in higher FT%. Perhaps Beachem will fill that role?

UT has 15 post minutes a game returning in Woody and Rasmussen I believe? McIntyre was already giving 20, we can't expect more than that. The redshirt freshman Beachem will now be available. We can afford maybe one injury. We lose two post capable players to graduation and will have three remaining, two who haven't yet proven themselves. We really need a strong post in next year's class

I think Coach has worked well to raise the performance of the post players so it's a good place for this recruit. If she has the work ethic and the basic athletic ability as opposed to just tall and big, this could be a could place for her. Wish her the best.

Interesting that they talk about Woody in the post. She certainly hasn't played there yet and her wing shooting is the biggest part of her game so far. Being short on tall may force her to pick up post minutes but I see Beacham playing a lot more minutes down low.

6' not a guarantee of post time at all anymore in the women's game, they're not rare as they were. Still their time probably dictated by opponent. I note the new player has 3 time so as tall as she is, she can still pull the post out from under the basket, opening the key for Woody and others. Be interesting to see if the new player is mobile.
