I think Elway is intentionally grooming him slowly and saving Paxton from the physical and mental beatings like Elway took in his first few years. We'll see.

MTSU almost took him out in the last game of the series in Murfreesboro. It was a nasty hit right in front of us.

That seemed to be Auburn's scheme against us in the 'ham bowl: hit Paxton on every play and see if he'll stay with his throws and absorb the hit, or if he'll tuck and run or turtle up considering it was the last amateur game of his career.

We saw the result.
